Victorian quarantine could follow Leigh Sales example of wearing masks.

It may save Victoria a billion dollars a week.

Then why did she wait till now?  Why not last lock down?

Its not unusual for ABC reporters to give Labour a hard time.

It wouldn't matter if she asked the questions in Swahili. The only people probably watching are her family, a few handwringers and a cat who was half asleep on the lounge.

Happy to say I/we still watch certain ABC shows, can't understand all the negative spoken about it.
The way I see it, they give , usually the government of the day, a fairly good healthy hard time over issues as necessary. This goes for both Labour and Liberal and Nationals and other parties who are "prepared to go on the various ABC shows" like Q&A, 7.30 report etc etc.
I know they are not going to be everyones cup of tea but in our opiniion we don't think they are biased to any one party, although it seems only 1 party conplains!
In our opinion most of the negative comes from a lot of liberal minded people, who lets be honest, the poor loves really don't like being challenged. I have several friends who I would happily put in the same basket, they are very precious!
If you want to watch, Farmer gets a bride, Holey Moley, MKR, Dancing with whoever, Wife swap, The Block, Survivor 97, The Bachelor, etc etc etc etc....................
go for it!
cheers
Ian

Yep, the LNP not only constantly winges, but at every opportunity cuts the ABCs budget. An obvious attempt to try and manipulate their reporting. Disgusting. Next it will be pork barrelling. Lol

I guess you mean "Liberal", not "liberal", as in the opposite of "conservative". See, even the name of the party is a lie in itself.

I have never voted Liberal in my life and was once a great fan of the ABC.  As Mike stated on another thread they are now just a staff with an agenda they wish to push. The only shows I watch on ABC are Landline and sometimes Back Roads. Shows such as Q and A, 7.30 Report and The Drum are just agenda driven for the already converted.

Oldbloke can you show any evidence that the government has cut the ABC's budget? That's a statement that has been made so many times some folks believe it.

I'm with DMaxer. landline is the only 'must' see program now days.

The ABC once had many country radio stations. All unique to the region with regional news and stories. Now all the ABC radio stations come out of the capital cities or large regional cities. Even then the so called regional stations have a lot of 'city' content.

I still read the ABC's online stories. But I always read with the knowledge that there may well be a 'political' spin to everything on the ABC.

Hi All,
Thanks for your input on this. However, please note that we do not allow political discussions on our forum as these usually lead to bad feelings. Thanks.

I see that Media Watch host Paul Barry is paid in excess of 200K per year and given a staff of 6 to produce 15 minutes of television each week.

Isn't that money well spent!

I take it from your comments Wanda that you fully endorse shows like Media Watch and the salary and staffing allocated.

A budget of over 1.6 billion and a staff of six and half thousand for "Their ABC" to produce the tripe that they do and you think it sad that people like myself and others question it?

Just because I don't like those shows on the ABC it does not mean you can draw the conclusion that I watch similar tripe on commercial television. Or is that just your way of trying to to justify your opinion?

When the ABC is gone, an/or placed into private hands, and we get a massive natural disaster, and their is no Public Broadcaster, to relay public messages, warnings as to when to leave, or ongoing issues surrounding the disaster, whom will all the naysayers winge about then , or too as we wont have any radio station doing it.

Just because you don't fund tripe does not mean that can't have a national broadcaster for certain other functions. Just go back to basics and have the ABC perform its rightful function, not be the loudspeaker of the handwringing left.
