Hi fellow travellers, looking at doing this trip June 2021any advise or anyone interested in doing the same. Tug 2019 bt50 and concept630 innovation. Done this 25yrs ago with a camper trailer hopefully it would be easier maybe wishfully thinking. Always listening and learning. Cheers travel safe.
The latest reports of the section from Roper Bar to Booroola is that at its worst, it's no better than it was years ago. Take your time and walk your van through the worst of the sections on that bit.

Welcome to GN's Juspokinlong, Was caught up there in 2001 in mud up to the diffs a lot of low range travel. Just prior to travel, check with Katherine Police who are the guys that patrol Roper Bar district.
Funny story whilst we were travelling at less than 10kph in mud; We were waved down by an oncoming Divvy Van just leaving Roper Bar - Couple of Katherine uniformed officers "Just wanted to check we were wearing seat-belts"

As said, Roper Bar to Borroloola is a rough road. Up near Roper Bar it's also corrugated for over 20km's. That said, people do take on-road caravans down there (I wouldn't)
Borroloola to Doomadgee is a well made dirt road, but there are a handful of water crossings on it. Easy to cross in the dry season if there hasn't been any recent rain, but it's nice to know that they're there before you get there. There's also a gorge west of Hell's Gate that has a fairly deep patch of bull dust in it. Once again, easy to negotiate if you know it's there.
Early June the bit from Borroloola to the Qld border was quite rough with lots of washouts, bad corrugations and 4 river crossings. Generally much worse than Gibb River Road. Qld side was much smoother.
