Hot water flow (or lack of it)

Hi, I have a Winnebago Esperence (10 years old) and am having trouble with the hot water flow. It has a Truma hot water unit (which is heating up) but getting no hot water through the taps. I have changed the mixing valve to no avail. The cold water pressure is normal. I have even taken the guts out of the reduction valve to see if that was the problem but made no difference. Almost as if no water is getting into the cylinder. Any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the Temperate Valve at all? Might have shaken closed over time or it might have ridden on ahead and a newy needed. Just a thought from my rusty cogs in the head.

Hi No Postcode

I have a Truma B14 hot water system

At the the top pipe, at the boiler, there is an elbow (not sure if they are repairable)

My problem was that there was a leak, at the connection

My thoughts at the time, was that if this elbow was pushed on too far, (at the steel pipe), then it would restrict the flow of hot water

Below is a pic of the elbow kit which is sold at Caravan Plus, where you can see the sketches of the Truma hot water systems

If you can let us all know how you got on, then it may help someone in the future

Thanks for that, I did notice something like that fitting as the hot water comes out from the tank, it has a plastic tube coming off it and going down through the floor. A breather !

Thanks for that, I replaced the temperature valve as it was more than 10 years old anyway, I have normal pump pressure on the cold taps but barely a trickle on the hot.

Hi Jim

I think that the soft clear plastic pipe, going through the floor, is a pressure/temperature bleed off, to stop the boiler expanding/rupturing

I would (after letting the hot water cool down), remove the hard plastic pipe, at the John Guest fitting, to make sure it is not the elbow fitting restriction

Yes, Ive just been watching some u tube clips and this out-let elbow may be my problem, this may be blocked or the pipe that extends into the tank. If the tank isn't filling to the top also may be my problem, but I can't see why it wouldn't.

Thanks for that.

Hi, in regards to my problem with no hot water flow, I now have the problem solved. After changing the temperate mixing valve low and behold it made no difference. But they say they should be changed every five years anyway,

What I have found and fixed, was a blockage in the pressure reduction valve restricting the water flow into the Truma hot water unit. After a lot of swearing (I'm sure Winnebago sat the cylinder in the spot then build the motor home around the cylinder)

Thank you for all the replies. Oh, and Aus-Kiwi, the prostate's fine.

When my tempering valve started to play up I tossed it out. Fixed now. Water is too hot but I'm not a 2 year old.

I believe its a very common problem.
