That is disturbing.

From your links

The affected batteries have also been supplied to consumers in battery storage systems with brand names other than LG.*

They do list the suppliers in the same links.

I do hope consumers become aware of these faulty batteries.

I just had Origin Energy yesterday offer " home storage ", me- no thanks mate, I do not trust this stuff yet.

Apparently the electric cars can and do have trouble with the batteries.

Looks like the home solar storage systems may have a similar fate.

I briefly read the articles and they offer that they will cut down the amount of charge being received into the system.

75% input is the fix at this stage. Mmmm not getting what was paid for comes to mind.

I will be waiting and assessing before I need to have a system installed only to possibly become a threat to my familys safety.

Very interesting, thanks Craig.

In addition to overcharging causing issues I had not realised that physical damage may (will?) cause a lithium battery to catch fire/explore.

Also be aware that standard fire extinguishers are not effective against lithium fires instead a specific lithium battery fire extinguisher is required. Which all makes me wonder about the wisdom of using lithiums in my caravan... and they most certainly would NOT be located under the bed!

We have one of these batteries at home. Fault was recorded July 2021, replacement was due in November, then March 2022, now May 2022
