Cost of a Fully body skin check Cost of a Fully body skin check - what do others pay ?
Cost me $275 I would have been with the Dermatologist for 7 minutes - ie less than 10 minutes.
It was Medicare Item number 105 and the Medicare rebate is $38.25 I have a indefinite referral.
It is at a dermatologist skin cancer specialist clinic.
They have at least one nurse and treatment rooms where they can take samples for analysis Wonder what others pay and if there are any tips for getting it done cheaper? <<<<<<< Question
My experience with GP ( based on past experience ) is they do not always recognize skin cancer and I would be cautious about letting them take pathology samples.
( I have had about about 8 skin cancers over the last 12 years , presently on a check up every 9 months . all except one was quite small.)

We paid $0.00 at a shop front skin cancer clinic at Taree a few years.
We also paid $0.00 at our GP for a very thorough check two years ago
Good value.
Paid about $78, then got $38 back from my clinic- early 2019 , he has done a study on skin cancers. Found a couple of little nasties. Then a follow up with my regular GP found another small one early 2020, same cost. If just a script visit gets bulk billed.
I had my stitches removed yesterday from 3 skin cancers on my back, that were removed 10 days ago.
Skin check 3weeks ago "bulk billed".
Removal procedure " bulk billed"
Back in 6 months for a rechecked will be " bulk billed"
Total cost SFA
We have found that if you are a "Member" of any Health Care Fund all procedures and Hospitalisations are charged - Whereas Medicare patients remain under Bulk-Billing.
There are some Medical Specialists that charge well above Govt Rebate allowances, so ensure your Doctor refers you to a Bulk-Billing Medical Specialist.
