Coronavirus vaccination in Germany

My sister in-law has had her first injection in Germany.

Firstly the bad.

They live in a small region & had to drive to another town even though their town is larger and they are doing vaccines there as well, but because Germany has actual roads unlike Australia's goat tracks you can drive at 200+kph, I have been on these roads she needs to drive, so it doesn't take long to get anywhere.

The good.

Her other half is booked in next week so another drive at 200+kph, this is probably good!

She could choose the vaccine she wanted.

There were about half a dozen layers of nurses and doctors quadruple checking your medical history. Making sure you are ok to get a vaccine. Thorough discussion of any concerns you may have.

A lot of process, but it all works extremely efficently & they are looking forward to the return 200+kph drive!

German efficiency vs Australian dog's breakfast!

Yes.

A small percentage of people have Darwiniam motives so let them achieve their goals & the rest of us get back to normal.

A small %?
German deaths 78,689 = 909 per million population.
Australian deaths 937 = 35 per million population.

I guess you might call it a "small %" when you or your loved ones are not one of them.
Cheers,
Peter

If you go to Harvey Norman and buy a new lounge and they say it will be here in 4 weeks and it takes 8 weeks. Who do you blame? You for ordering in good faith or Harvey Norman? So why do we blame the government for not receiving the vaccine when they were meant to? Then why do we blame the federal gov when QLD doesn't think to vaccinate front line Dr and nurses? Politics or reality. Politics or truth?

My other half has a close German friend, who I also know, currently living in Portugal & her partner died in Portugal. He was in hospital intubated & in a critical condition for 3 weeks. Was improving & going to leave hospital & then got an infection.

In the end died in hospital from an infection not actually from Covid.

We are well aware of Covid & other health issues.

The problem in Australia we have 8 kingdoms which are doing their own thing. About as stupid as a country building different railway gauges everywhere.

Whenarewethere you have hit the nail on the head. Love it or not at some stage the federal government has to be in charge. 12 months has shown us how a national cabinet will all shake their collective heads in agreement then go out and do their own thing. They couldn't even agree on a definition to a Hot Spot.

Yesterday I was at my Dr. I'm immunity compromised. In other words if it's out there I'll catch it. I have a blood clot history that almost killed me. (My hematologist gave me the green light 2 months ago for the jab). He gave me a new flu shot but suggested waiting a while for the covid jab. JUST IN CASE.

Australians will go along with rules. But keep them consistent.

Germany has a federal system ,which means each of its 16 states makes its own Covid-19 rules .

There are no problems in my local Kingdom of Bunbury, West Australia

Booked the vaccine a few weeks ago

Last week they got in touch, and asked if we still wanted the vaccine (it appears that there had been a lot of scaremongering)

Said OK, and they gave us a time (already knew the place) for today

This morning they got in touch, to remind us of our appointment

They also sent a short vid, explaining what was going to happen, such as
Keep your distance/sanitise the hands/have identification if required/ escorted to a numbered waiting chair/given a coronavirus flyer to read/etc

Got there 5 minutes early, and there were a queue of about 20 in front of us

Girl at the door, (assume she was a nurse, as she had a nurses watch), came and took particulars, and asked the questions/names/checked her list/ etc
She also got us to put a signature on her IPad, confirming we consented to the vaccine

By the time we got to the door, there were (about) another 20 behind us

Ushered into the building one at a time, or double if you were a couple

The people inside double checked, that we were who we were supposed to be

I could see 3 doctors working, but there could have been more, in other parts of the building

Doctor called you in, double checked you were who you were supposed to be, gave the vaccine with another person watching

Waited for 15 minutes in the main waiting room, and booked in for second vaccine, and flu shot

To my way of thinking, there was no way of getting anything wrong

Not many roads that you can drive at 200kmph, and even on the sections you can, there aren't all that many driving at crazy speeds. Part of the reason is there roads tend to be very crowded - right hand lane is bumper to bumper with a Conga line of heavy vehicles and cars towing trailers. That only leaves 2 lanes for the rest

Not sure why this faked envy of the systems in place in other countries where they are dying in their thousands and currently in their 3rd or 4th uncontrolled surge. Why use total failures as poster boys. -- While here in Australia.....

"Just imagine if they closed their borders!" You probably need to keep up with international news before spreading fake news of your own. Italy - regional lockdowns, Spain - ongoing savage regional lockdowns, UK - closed national and internal borders, other small countries with closed borders or local restrictions, similar in some states in the US. Quarantine very common, whole of south America has closed borders, Mexico and Canada closed borders to USA ... And not one thinks Australia has done the wrong thing.

It's a pointless exercise comparing countries. There are so many variables that it will take years of research to figure out why some countries are different to others. Australia closed the international border very early and has, in the main, controlled the virus coming into the country. As for different states and their reactions is up to others to argue over.
