Greetings fellow Bank Rorting Victims...

Here we go again, for ten years or so bank insiders have known that they are selling a junk insurance called ICC, or, credit card insurance. Now the big four are facing a class action, although I read NAB has already settled. It seems the last royal commission has taught the bankers nothing.

"We pay SFA tax".As a company, this may be true, but have you ever considered the many BILLIONS of dollars contributed to the national economy from the income tax paid by the many thousands of people employed by these "Big business" companies? Who cares what the actual company pays,as long as its presence creates a positive effect on the national economy? Jealousy is a disease.Cheers

And of coarse the personal tax that is paid by their share holders on the dividends they provide.

No, not jealous mate. I care because the less tax they pay means you or your family pays more.  Assuming they work for a living.  Company taxes could be contributing to better roads,  healthcare, the aged pension, job seekers, you know, all those expenses that help out great country and general population.

.Dont you think its fair everyone pays their FAIR share? ( I think you were insinuating this in another thread a couple of days ago, you know, all pull together) Or do you think its ok for a few companies to bludge on society?  After all banks have some of the largest profits in the country.

I really don't think the average person realises just how much tax all Australian companies pay. To name a few. GST PAYG Payroll Tax ,Stamp duties ,import duties, License Fees , Rates, and many state and federal fees. Workers comp is also a form of tax and insurances have become prohibitive and this keeps insurance prices more stable for others. Doing business in Australia is very expensive. Cheers Stewart GFC

Hi Stewart...please don't confuse the issue by introducing facts and logic. As I said earlier, these companies provide employment, thus pouring billions into the economy via employee taxes on income, and the spending of that income on consumables.Seems some don't understand this? Spare me! Cheers

Would you rather be in one of the worlds tax free havens where large companies pay bugger all tax and the average Joe pays the bulk of tax? Remember Australia has one the highest corporate tax rates in the world.

There is only so much money in the world. (Yes some countries print more money but we know how that ends). The only thing that changes is the size of your share. Every cent of wages those big companies pay in wages is taxed. Every item they buy has GST on it. (Yes I know they claim it back). The GST is passed on all the along the line. The Fed Gov paid out billions in Jobkeeper and Jobseeker over the past year. Folks just look at how much they paid out. But the reality is they get almost all of it back via taxes. Most of the Jobseeker and Keeper money is spent and gets taxed. The Gov gets it back over and over. It's too simplistic to say a company doesn't pay tax. They do in a number of ways. Besides I would sooner live in a country with prosperous companies paying no tax than in a country with no companies paying no tax.
