Model codes - how to decipher

Hi, picked our 2012 Starcraft Outback on the weekend, very happy with it. Curious about the model code on the compliance plate which is 20 62-2. I googled the code and the main hit was the Jayco site with the latest model - very similar layout apart from the washing machine location. The stated length was 20 but my van was advertised as 196. Do the first two digits represent the length in feet and, if so, how is it measured. Is it main body only or does it include the tow bar and back bumper. Not important, just curious. I found it interesting that the layout of our van is almost identical to the current model. Jayco is obviously not spending much on design

The numbers do not mean much to anyone other than Jayco , their Sales people and the Buyer . It is just Jayco's way of naming/Coding a van in their Model Range . There is no Law to say that the figures even have to make sense or be relative to vans produced by other companies.

The Jayco code is 20 feet long, or 6.2 m. Layout 2.

20 feet is 6.1 m. 6.2 m is 20.3 feet, rounded up to 20.5 feet. Marketing ploy??

Thanks, that now makes some sense.
