Hi i recently had a broken 5 leaf spring snapped on  my Tandem pop  top. . I fortunately could purchase a new one. I fitted it with new U bolts and new nylock knuts. Do I need to get a engineer check compliance  certificate ?? I am Victorian Based. half on

No there is no need to have it checked. Its only if you are doing modifications that will change you compliance specifications

Welcome to GN's Haunted Usually a spring change over is pretty well free from problems - As I don't know your mechanical capabilities it may pay to have your alignment re-checked by a professional just to be on safe side (Tyres are expensive). No need to have a compliance check, only requirement is to have it "safe".

I would re check the U bolt nuts after the next van use after they have " bedded in " It may be prudent to check all the U bolts on the other springs as well... just for peace of mind.

I have a mate whom carries a spare spring and U bolts.  I have never had any problems so don't  carry the extra weight but I do check the gear regularly.
