Not an article, just a poorly worded rant, seems to have been composed by someone who is barely literate.confuse

You don't live in Vic . ? if you do , than you should know how the lockdown started.

So the question was ,why did nobody in South Australia and on the plane  got sick,  simple question .

My wife had the vaccine, 2.5 weeks ago. She copped a few painfull aftershocks with it for 4 days. Put her in bed all that time. I have to wait for Pfizer under doctors orders, but, I would avoid the AZ vaccine, as my wife has just started growing an extra ear, and you really don't want a wife that can hear any better, especially if you have a few mates around in the manshed for a beer or two every now and then.

The simple answer to your simple question is that the people who are best placed to understand the circumstances surrounding this outbreak are the medical professionals, not any of us, and certainly not some conspiracy nutter. The implication that this is a bogus outbreak engineered by the government to keep people in perpetual lockdown is just too stupid for words.

Over the last 14+ months of this virus we have been told all sorts of numbers. My simple question is, "Is anyone auditing any of these numbers?" How do we know that the figures are not over quoted. Or under quoted. It's like the covid deaths. Where's the figures that tell us of those who died 'with' covid had a co morbidity condition? How many false positive or negatives? It's even hard to find 'active' cases.

Every politician gets up and tells us 'it's based on the medical advice'. But not one of those politicians have every released, or made public, that advice. Why? Or should I say 'why not'?

Without the facts conspiracy theories run wild.

Very well put, conspiracy theorists & deniers of everything ( or should that be everythink in this case) are a plague on society as much as this pandemic.

I can't and won't answer that as I am NOT a medical expert.

Life is not that simple Recoup, if only it was!

No one is side stepping that the infection started here in SA, just read all the facts!

Ian

PS and on your post headline, "And no one questions anything"......

Plenty, plenty of people do just that, professionals and others, the problem is "some people don't and refuse to listen!"

cheers

Methinks there is too much faith in the "medical experts" I wish there were a few more people who say " I am NOT a medical expert"

And if you don't listen to medical experts, just who do we listen too, really,  what our politicians, I think NOT!

Maybe this forumnobiggrinyawnyawnconfuseno

I know its easy to blame someone after an event but the reality is we have done a pretty good job doing what we have done, which is mainly listening to these medical people. (don't like the word expert, after all they are still human)

Why not continue doing the same thing and fine tune where necessary, we can still learn but why change something if it works!!

Ian

Wanda the issue I have with 'medical experts' is what is the definition of 'medical expert'. The Qld CMO has no medical training as such. Just a management qualification.

I have no issue with the 'medical experts' as such. But I do object to politicians hiding behind the medical opinion. So who's running the states?

The voice of reason again Ian, good post.

My feeling is its very much up to each and every one of us to endeavor to absorb as much of the information as we can, then make personal decisions based on our own interpretation, if we don't feel able to do this the best we can do is rely on the advice of a trusted GP.

Bearing in mind many of us older folk also have medical conditions which may affect our decision regarding vaccination.

The media are a mine field of misinformation, sensationalism and controversy, it certainly can be difficult to sort fact from fiction.smile

I have a problem with the medias reference to medical experts.

If reporting a fact as opposed to fabricating a story to suit an agenda then loading that story with quotes from ambiguous sources, then, the reporter should be able to name the medical expert. My expectation would be, this information has been supplied from Doctor Bill Smith or at the least a qualified medical person representing a valid group of medical professionals as listed members of that group.

The media in this country is an arse..

Do you believe the CMO, or the health minister, makes decisions/recommendations on his or her own? I would expect that any recommendation would be the result of consultation with medical experts, ie those people who have been trained as doctors and epidemiologists, and who have been working in the field.

As for "hiding behind medical opinion", I would hope that politicians would embrace medical opinion rather than resorting to their own unqualified initiatives. I wouldn't want idiots like Trump or Boris Johnson in control of our COVID strategy, or any politician for that matter.

This study explains a lot. I expect that the results would be replicated in Australia. Just replace "Republican" with "conservative", and "Democrat" with "leftist".

Most Americans think they can spot fake news. They can't, study finds:

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/05/31/health/fake-news-study/index.html

As many as three in four Americans overestimate their ability to spot false headlines -- and the worse they are at it, the more likely they are to share fake news, researchers reported Monday.

"We show that overconfident individuals are more likely to visit untrustworthy websites in behavioral data; to fail to successfully distinguish between true and false claims about current events in survey questions; and to report greater willingness to like or share false content on social media, especially when it is politically congenial," the team wrote.

"In all, these results paint a worrying picture: The individuals who are least equipped to identify false news content are also the least aware of their own limitations and, therefore, more susceptible to believing it and spreading it further," they added.

"Finally, Republicans are more overconfident than Democrats, which is not surprising given the lower levels of media trust they report."

About 90% of the participants told researchers they believed they were above average in their ability to sniff out fake stories.

"Though Americans believe confusion caused by false news is extensive, relatively few indicate having seen or shared it," Lyons said in a statement.

"If people incorrectly see themselves as highly skilled at identifying false news, they may unwittingly be more likely to consume, believe and share it, especially if it conforms to their worldview."

By "Qld CMO" I assume you mean Queensland's Chief Health Office.

And by "no medical training" I assume you are unaware of her: "graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery."

This kind of slack and inaccurate assertion is a large part of the problem with people being spooked about covid vaccines and it should stop - *check* your damn "facts"!

Mike I'm just repeating the media. And that's the issue. The vast majority of Australians get their information from the media.

To get back to the OP, who asked why no one questioned, why South Australians did not catch Covid-19

If my memory serves me correctly

There was no question to ask

The man caught Covid-19, during the end of his hotel quarantine period, he then went to Victoria on the same day, as his release from quarantine

It was a few days later, (while in Victoria) when he started to spread the virus to others

So he caught it in SA. ?or did he bring it in from India ? maybe a 14 day quarantine is not long enough

Instead *check* what you are publishing and asserting.
