Ningaloo caravan park Exmouth

$60/night for a park with the most disgusting ammenities block I have ever seen, that is one of the three blocks, sewerage blocked in both make/female, management arrogant about issue and instruct us to use another block whilst still taking $60/night from us. This park is old and the owners simply rip you off, $60/night for this disgusting unhygienic situation. Never again, Exmouth is overrated anyway, a tourist trap.

We were in a motel one night 2018. It was a shocker. Hot water in the shower was cold. Filthy. Broken fixtures. Blocked drain. A dead ****roach. At least no bed bugs!

Free camped out at the aerodrome because CP was horrendous. Diamond pricing for dog-turd amenities.

What opptions are open to people to get the message out there that this sort of blatant money grab has to stop?

I guess we all know about the Lemons caravan website, but where do we go to name and shame these places?

There must be a beetr way, other than just poor facebook feedback.

A very very good point, wish I had the answer.

Maybe a start would be to name them!

Maybe there's no real competition for the business, word of mouth soon gets the message around, but if it's the only park there then I doubt it will do much. People still want to visit the area.

Keep in mind there have been legal consequences for folks putting up bad reviews on some sites. So be very mindful of facts.

Its a super popular area, booked out for much of the winter and all school holidays, particularly over the past couple of years and the prices are reflecting that with supply and demand. A much cheaper option with a wonderful location is to stay at Cape Range National Park campgrounds, $11 per night per adult, but again super popular and in peak season can be hard to get in at all.

Talking to travellers through the East Kimberley (I take my dog out to RAs for a walk - there's only so much town we can both take), the cost of CPs right across the top of WA is high, as is occupancy. Ditto the NT. A lot of the privately owned, smaller, more out-of-the-way parks are - less well-kept - than the bigger, branded ones.

It's peak season, we're full up. In the Build Up, Wet and Recovery (Spring, Summer and Autumn for the uninitiated), it's crickets (or bloody great cane toads). So a lot of these places close up (maintenance goes bye bye as workers leave for paid work) and no-one makes much money.

Doesn't excuse not having working facilities, but that is the logic of high prices - the Season is 3-5 months and they have to live off that for a full year. Cost of living up here is exorbitant (HCQ was and may still be the most exxy place in Oz to live).

Myself, so long as I can find a bathroom that flushes and can get water (hot, cold - I don't care) for a wash, I am all good. And if there's not a loo, I have a shovel, a roll of dunny paper and a goodly stock of hand sanitiser. I can always shower at the next stop/home, or use wet wipes for a refresher.

Yes it is costly, but no more than most popular tourist areas.

Not good if amenities were below par.

We stayed around the corner at Yardie Station. Enjoyed the time, Ningaloo, and found Exmouth to be ok.

I would recommend others go and see for themselves. It may just be what you are looking for.

We were in Pompeii at the campground, a stone's throw from the entrance to the ancient city. There was a blocked drain & the sewer overflowed across the campground.

That was unpleasant!

If the Romans really want to draw a crowd nowadays they should re enact throwing Christians to the lions, but this time change it up to lycra clad cyclists. People will pay heaps to see that!

Captive market in Exmouth, no free camping anywhere. As stated beforehand, go to Cape Range NP, all of the whole Peninsula is windy and busy this time of year.

Currently at RAC Exmouth. Big, expensive well layed out dirt patch with bitumen roads. We use own shower, toilet so do not need facilities. Yes the prices are high but last night was100% full. I guess the supply/demand curve has hit North WA. First visit to this area since 1979 unless you are into snorkeling or glass bottom boats like my wife do not waste your time. One positive is that IMHO the roads in WA country are better than the rest of AU generally speaking.

Exmouth, bloody expensive

2015 we came in late, and camp out near the airport,
The council guy was up early and there at 6am and I got a great lecture on the rules of no camping ,
he let me off the 200 dollar fine because I said I was tired
and needed to stop , plus I said there was no rest areas on the way in to stop at
lucky we were pack up and ready to move

We had camped on a little track near the airport and the person trying to scare us during the night was entertaining, NOT
he was roaring around our van in his 4WD very late at night , and did it 3 times, you would just get settled
and he would be back
I got his number, then spotted the 4WD in the mangers car park at the office
I since found out later, this was the manager of the park , and he love doing this ,
We were going to stayed in the caravan park but
that was the decider ,so had a look around took some photos and drove out

Exmouth never again I would not waste my fuel
Bob

As others have said, forget Exmouth town - expensive tourist trap - camp out at Cape Range NP instead, this was our spot this time last year...
