trackers would only help after the event, do very little to stop people removing your item

I use SolidGPS. Not expensive, Aussie company, and works everywhere, not just in mobile phone areas. $187 initial, then $6.99 per month. I know it works because I got an alert when I took the van in for a service.

No security devices can stop caravans being stolen - Today's range of portable grinders and cutting tools can/will remove any high tensile lock, chain or device in seconds.

Professional thieves will drag van up on to tilt tray in less than one minute.

Monitored tracking devices have a chance of locating whereabouts of caravan - immediate Police attention is required (Hen's teeth comes to mind). Magistrates  are needed to sign off on warrants - it gets messy - Here's where Texas Rules would be handy.

Best advice is to purchase a good insurance policy that would cover a total loss of caravan and all contents.

When storing caravan, fit good security locks, place van in difficult area to load onto tilt tray - lengthy storage remove tow hitch and all wheels including spare. (store these in separate unseen area).

Bosch 10.8v angle grinder 76mm disc cuts 2.5" x 1/8 galvanized steel pipe in 120 seconds for the first cut all the way through. About 6cm square of cross sectional area.

Just think how quick a 125mm angle grinder will cut through!

I think everyone already knows that. What ever you do is just a deterrent.  That's why we have Insurance.

It was only when I actually cut something I then realised just how quickly something with a large cross sectional area can be cut.

You need seriously heavy sections & multiple systems. Put it on blocks & deflate the tyres.

Nobody seems to want to pinch my 1999 Jayco Westport.  It has been sitting in my parking area beside the house off & on for >20 years.

Perhaps the best deterrent is to buy one like mine.

I don't know if a doberman is classed as a tracker. but one attached to the draw bar may work.

Not sure about tracking, but WiTi have a very good antitheft device. I will be having it fitted to my new Prince, during the build.

I saw it advertised a lot better on the Crusader website but i can't locate it right now.

from their website.

FYI

About buying a mobile phone jammer on Ebay ...

Mobile phone jammers are prohibited
The supply, possession and operation of mobile phone jammers in Australia is prohibited by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) as such devices can cause significant interference to radiocommunications services, including mobile phone networks.

Use of a jamming device in Australia can result in fines of up to $255,000 or two years imprisonment <<<<<<<<<<<<

Correct Peter, and I have found that most people stealing caravans are on the whole honest people that obey laws.

It is good to see that the OPs question was actually answered but it is also good that the supplier that Nevd suggested is also a sponsor of this very forum.

It is not quite true that it works everywhere.  It needs access to a phone network  in order to report its position. In a remote area without any mobile phone carriers available it cannot report its position.

It generally uses the GPS signal to ascertain its location, but In the case that the Solid GPS Tracker is unable to acquire a GPS lock, it  will locate the closest cell tower and a larger circle will appear on your dashboards map. Allowing you to narrow down the search until the device is able to acquire a GPS signal.

Solid GPS utilises 550 different mobile carriers, switching between them when it detects a better network signal. It is able to switch between the 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G cellular networks automatically.
