David Attenborough's latest series

I think that I posted this into the wrong forum so I've reposted it here.

I thoroughly enjoyed David Attenborough's series, especially the photography. He has a new series out called "Breaking Boundaries" (or maybe that's the first episode.) It's only available on Netflix, which I don't subscribe to. I think that the first episode was available on the 4th of June so those with Netflix can start watching it. The trailer is:

Has anyone seen this yet on Netflix? Is be interested to see if it's as good as all his previous series.

Met some film crew that filmed an episode that he did in Cooktown. There is a lot of smoke and mirrors.

Well rgren2, when the s..t hit's fan in 20 years time, with 12 billion people on the planet, no more, of the worlds lungs, by then ( that is there will be no more Amazon Jungle anymore), when every tree in Australia, will pretty much be gone, except for National Parks ( which only comprise 3.9% of Australia land mass), when your kids gran kids, are crying out for water and food that is not there, less food due to lack of water, at least here on this forum, your words of " it is all smoke and mirrors" you will remember them. Water is a finite resource, that is the first thing that will affect us the most and it just wont be here for us. It is bloody naive to think, that we can keep on raping the planet and it will never affect us, that our kids, kids grankids, will have a happy healthy planet to live on by then. At that point in time their will be 35 billion people on the planet, how will they feed themselves then?

I think there needs to be an even bigger ogre behind them all, with the words "Population growth".

It's a more immediate problem than climate change. It will cause more deaths due to starvation, more raping of the earth's resources, leading to more wars, while at the same time making its own contribution to climate change. With the rampant growth in population, our cities, predominantly built on the best farming land will continually expand, leading to less and less viable farming land, while demand for it soars.

This is a threat NOW. Already, millions are at risk of starvation, but you never hear any panic about population growth. A warmer climate may actually help because warmer temperatures mean more arable land.

Exactly! Get the population numbers sorted out and most other things will fall into place.

Trouble is... no one knows how to do it. China's "one child" policy was a disaster on many fronts. What else? Forced sterilisation? Forced death at 60? Rich countries tend to have too low birth rates so maybe make all countries rich? That's a tricky one....

You're all a cheerful lot. Water isn't disappearing. If it is where to? Mars? No water remains the same. Just where it is changes. Folk have been predicting dooms day for years and years. But nothing. Remember the ozone holes? The next ice age? Remember Don Dunston standing at the end of the Glenelg jetty? The world has been changing since the big bang. Or God. All humans have to do is act responsibly. The problem is in the definition of "responsibly". And that is where the issue is. But to get to a common consensus you first have to address the political agenda. We ban plastic straws in Australia while Asian countries flush tons of plastic out via their rivers. So will Australia not having plastic straws make any difference?

All those wanting population control should join up with this mob.

Now I have my tin hat on,I can see how they have put FEAR & TERROR into people with the pandemic, that is just training you for the big white elephant to come.

The press and media have been told to push C.C. once they have the  COP meeting in Glasgow, you will see big changes and scaremongering coming.

It will suit a lot of the socialists on Forum's. I will sit back and watch,

Over population certainly is the elephant in the room, there are many other controversial issues that need addressing, if I mentioned them here the thread would be immediately closed.

As Christopher Hitchens commented

Anyone whose major concern is the sanctity of human life is in effect, by leaving population growth unchecked, ensuring death by famine. Nature is pitiless, and if humans will not themselves limit population then they will have it done for them.

Christopher Hitchens

Gee Plain Truth your game.
If you look hard enough behind any of the media headlines you find a political agenda.
The problem, as I see it, is that the vast majority of the noise is coming from the left. Yes and some loonie right wing mobs as well. And that noise is being amplified enough to scare politicians.

Gee bicyclecamper, you interpreted rgren2's comment differently to me. I thought that they were talking about the filming process.

Has anybody seen the series on Netflix? I was wondering if it's worth visiting my friend, who has Netflix, to watch it.

I agree that there are too many people in the world. One way to control the population is education. Educate the people to use contraceptives and that having a lot of children is not a good idea. Australia, currently, has a negative population growth because of the lack of immigration yet we have our treasurer saying that the best thing Australians can do is to have children. It's about time that the political parties realise that we need sustainable growth for the future. Overpopulation will just cause more hardship.

Reckon we're pretty much on the same wave length on this subject Buzz.

Not sure about education, reaching/educating the massive populations of third word countries, or as the woke brigade would have us say (developing countries) is almost impossible, then we have almost 1.5 billion followers of Rome who don't want to know about birth control.

There are smarter people than me who cant work out a solution, as Hitchens said, if we don't address the problem we will have it done for us, nature is a cruel master.

Santa the problem isn't that they 'can't' work out a solution. The problem is the PC and Woke brigade would go into meltdown at the mere suggestion of some form of population limits.

The trouble is that it is a good idea for people living in poverty to have a high number of children, it's good old age or injury insurance.

Don't take it personally.

Google has various algorithms which attempt to stop improper use of its search engine - it's hit me in that regard twice. Such algorithms are not perfect.

One of the things Google *really* wants to stop is people trying to confuse it; Google tracks what you do and tries to build a profile of you. There is software available which tries to defeat this, this software may be run in the background on your machine and will perform *lots* of Google searches for random items. One search may be for bras, the next for guns, the next for camshaft shims etc. such diversity totally confuses Google and makes you a much less attractive profit source. And they do not like it :)

Try the Qwant search engine instead:
