We have a Sphere television in our van linked up to satellite via HDMI cable. The screen has gone blue. We are getting sound and are able to see the channel guide but only a blue screen for every channel. We've tried playing a DVD and that works. We've tried turning everything off and taking out cables but the problem persists. Any advice would be most appreciated!
Welcome to GN's tandk, Please advise is this a new setup? Has it ever worked? Brand of control box? 12v or 240v? What system are you contracted with VAST, ect?

Thanks. We have been operating the system for a while using HDMI cable from the set top box from satellite. We are linked in to the VAST system as we are currently doing a farm sit in Qld regional.
Thank you. No, it's not a new setup. The television is about 7 years old but the set top box (Altech), satellite etc is only a couple of months old. We are on 240v at the moment and linked to the VAST satellite system.
I have 2 x 30" (horizontal) & 24" (vertical) monitors for computer 3D work setup & one of my 30" monitors went a red colour, ironically the youngest monitor. Unless you want to rip apart the monitor to attempt to fix the problem. Probably easier to bin it.

Here is what to check when your TV is turned on, power light is ON, but no picture is seen or sound is heard: 1 Be sure the component you are using (Xbox, Cable, SAT, ROKU) is turned ON. 2 Check to be sure all cable and cords are securely connected to the TV inputs and component outputs.

If it was me I'd chuck the TV in the bin and buy a name brand new one thats not 12v
Hi all; At a guess, try a full reset by pushing the reset button ( use a pen ) that is behind the smart card door on the front of your Altech receiver.

Sphere is a brand name TV. They have been around for years. They are marketed to the caravan fraternity, you just don't see them in JB or Hardly Normal as they are built to take the vibration of caravan travelling.
Why a 230 V only TV? All the modern TV sets operate on low voltage. They all contain a power supply (PSU) that provides a low DC voltage from the mains, some are 12 V others maybe something a little higher. The difference between a 12/230 V tv and a straight 230 V TV is that some of them have had the extra componentry placed in them so you can bypass the PSU and operate them on your 12 V battery.

Oh no the dreaded blue screen! I'm not familiar with set top boxes and satellite that much anymore but cables and blue screens I am, in most cases the blue screen means no signal received (video) as suggested try another HDMI or an RCA cable, if your playing a DVD from a different source (machine) then this may be the issue, as your getting the video feed from a different cable, I have had the video (yellow) cable in an RCA go faulty and had the same issue. Video also seems to require a heavier cable in some cases too.
Hi all, thanks so much for your comments. We have tried a lot of the suggestionsbut at the end of the day decided to update the tv - should fix the problem!

Hi, yes I did watch the video. In the end I decided not to open the back of the TV but did take all cables out, reboot etc. For the price of the new TV's these days decided to just go ahead and get a new one! Thanks. Terry
