Relocating

Hi we and our van are relocating to QLD to live from the dreaded Vic.

I have read and called SA & NT hotlines and to the best of my ability i have a plan which is permitted. We can travel to SA where we must self quarantine for 14 days & have covid swabs second daily. Following that we should be able to enter NT then onto QLD. My query is has anyone experienced any issues. We are allowed to travel as we are deemed essential travelers as we are genuinely relocating and have no Victorian address anymore as we let our house out. Thank you in advance.

Deb, as of 600 pm yesterday, entry to SA became much more difficult, to the extent even returning SA residents are being denied entry from Victoria.

I suggest you look at the SA Police Covid web site, get the hotline number, and check the entry requirements. I do know they now include an SA Health exemption, as well as your Cross Border Travel pass. You may find your plans are being changed by others as we connect!

I see that Essential Travellers are still allowed, so you may be fine. Sorry for any worry I just caused.

Hi Deb, we have a similar relocation issue.  We sold our house in Pakenham to move back to South Australia as returning residents.  Our settlement date is 8 Oct 21 and we plan a temporary relocation to a town closer to South Australian border, like Stawell or Horsham.  We cannot cross the SA border until exemption from  SA Health which will probably not happen before 1 Dec 21 as we can then move into our existing SA property and self-isolate.  Our temporary relocation will however be to a caravan park and not a rental property and we are concerned that Vic police will issues us a fine if we do not pick a caravan park near our current address.

I have phoned the hotline a few weeks ago and they indicated that it is reasonable travel and we will phone again to make sure we would be inside the rules.  We also intend to stay at a nearby caravan park while we pack our stuff and clean the house and I am concerned that police could say that we already chose a relocation park and give us a fine.  Temporary relocation to a caravan park seems to be a grey area and cause us to be nervous and hesitant.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Update on our relocation. We are now happy residents of Stawell. Went through police check point near Ballarat without any issues. Police asked for licence and remarked that we are far from Pakenham. I replied that we don't live there anymore and showed them papers of settlement date and they wished us well. So much unnecessary stress.
