I would imagine Bunnings and others are only serving people with a trade pass so it minimises the volume of people through their stores in the interest of reducing the Covid infection numbers.

We did 7 weeks locdown in Qld last year and for retirees, it was not that hard.

I have family in NSW who are doing the right thing but their efforts and the efforts of several thousand others are being brought undone by senseless acts of

* not staying home* as requested by your state health representatives and government leaders.

We have experienced the passing of a family member with Covid last year, I certainly don't want this to happen to another member of our family.

Unnecessary travel, no matter how you or anyone else may justify it within your mind, is still just that, Unnecessary.

The round centrepiece architectural model in the National Exhibition Centre in Canberra, about a third of that model is my work, & the Olympic master plan model for Homebush. They are not train sets.

One model I was working 132 hours a week.

Why carn't you do an online order and then either have it delivered or click and collect ?

This model, the builders were constantly looking at the model as they could not understand the plans. My brain was hurting at the end of each day trying to build a three dimensional mental picture of the design. Even the architect didn't really know how his design was working, not uncommon.

I walked back home & then drove to Brookvale to a proper hardware store, so sorted out.

Our local Bunnings is happy to let you into the store so long as you are masked, scan in and show some proof that you are in a trade or building and construction industry. I still see a lot of people that I would think are not in an industry coming out of the store. 2 adults with 2 kids, older people with slippers on, women with plants, door mat or clothes basket, what trade do they fit into? I'm a tradie but will use click and connect. Only once have I had to enter the store while in lockdown and that was because I couldn't get the information online or over the phone for the item, needed to see it. And being in Melbourne I spent a long time under lockdown. I only go out when needed, be it chemist, supermarket, take away if we have it, doctors if it has to be in person, gym is closed so not using it and exercise with the dog. All allowable under lockdown. Now if you think a trip to Bunnings is unnecessary when due to some high winds we have been having, your fencing is being blown over and you have to get to Bunnings to get some star pickets to keep it upright is unnecessary, then obviously you would be happy leave your fence to lie on the ground as your not allowed to go out. Or would you?

It would be hard pressed to class storm damage repair to building or property be placed in the same class as building a model railway no matter how well it was designed and built and who viewed it or owned it.

Click and collect or delivery is certainly a safer and more sensible option.

Bunnings have another system that we used last week called contactless collect. Same as click and collect until you get to the check out, where you select the contactless pick up box. Pay and print off your order then wait for an email saying your goods are ready to collect. You specify a time that you wiil be coming to the store, when you get there you park in a special area, call them from your phone and they come out to your car and scan the order through the window. They then bring out the goods and load them in your vehicle all without anyone needing to go near anybody. Sounds complicated but it worked a treat too bad they didnt make this type of pick up compulsory for retailers who they classified as being essential services during a lockdown.

Maybe if if the rules in Silvertail areas such as the northern beaches had been enforced from day 1 instead of waiting until the outbreak had spread into the working class suburbs of western Sydney NSW would be in a lot better position than it is today. Maybe if they had been a little more serious about preventing people from locked down areas travelling into regional NSW we wouldn't be seeing the disaster that is currently unfolding in the west of our state.

Do some real research. Not what you think is right. Masks with valves working either way do not protect anyone from Covid because if you have it you are transmitting it when you breath out.

Masks, any masks, used with facial hair are a waste of time.. for those with turbans who have beards and wear masks, it would be better for all if you took the turban from your head and hair and wrapped it around your face covering your mouth. For those others that don't wear turbans then a quality mask without a valve is probably your best bet.

Proper P2 masks that actually work are available. Again, do some research. Masks with valves that allow an out breath to escape are not protecting anyone except our *whenarewethere* character who really believes his wandering around Sydney streets with these type of masks are offering any type of protection to himself and all he may come into contact with.

Whenarewethere the P2V masks shown in the photo are ineffective against the spread of covid as they are the valve type - they may offer some sort of protection to the wearer but if someone has Covid they would not protect the people around them from virus particles being exhaled. If this is what you guys on the northern beaches are wearing as PPE please stay in your area...

Hairyone if your main line of defence against covid will be relying on the residents of your state being smarter than NSW and your borders staying shut - good luck with that I wish you well. The reality is (as both Gladys and Dan have found) everyone will need to learn how to live with this virus especially when the country reopens. The vaccine is not the magic bullet that will eliminate covid especially as there will always be a % of the population who choose not to get one.

Agreed.....But until everyone who is willing to get vaccinated has been ,we need to isolate to give the health workers a chance to keep up, not look for excuses and loop holes to get out in the community for their own satisfaction with no regard for others. Not all laws and rules will suit everyone, they are there as guide lines and people need to use common sense.
