Victron - massive price hike!

In August I bought a Victron 100/30 MPPT Bluetooth solar controller for $275 including delivery.

Today I notice that same controller from the same (and others) supplier is priced at $383!

A similar rip-off level price hike appears to have been applied to other (all?) Victron products too so I assume this is a Victron initiated increase.

Could be freight. I have had two parcels from USA returned, over the last couple of months. I paid the highest air freight at the suggestion of the suppliers.

I still want the items. Looks like next year. No indication of any timeframe at the moment.

If there is something in stock locally now and you really need it just buy it or you could be waiting a long time.

Bit savage. I have screen shot of proposed new system from 2 weeks ago and a 24v 5000va inverter charger has gone from 3000 to 3800. Have spoken to Annie and sent my list to see what they can do, but they aren't the only game in town.

I don't need all their expensive add-ons that do little except extract money and pander to those screen watchers who can't design a set and forget system - and I have a pretty wide range of gear installed and have no trouble with any of it over the years

Hey everyone, after looking to buy the victron 100/50 for $385 there abouts and finding out about the price hike I almost decided to use another brand but after searching I've found a dealer in Melbourne that has some victron gear on special https://www.nationwideautoparts.com.au/collections/victron I got the 100/50 for $400 thats the cheapest I could find but hey $15 more than expected is better than upto $165 more.

Peatop: You'll be very pleased with the product and you did well with the price however the level of Victron's price increase is a disgrace.

I have been giving one of their dealers plenty of stick in e-mail, for all the good it will do, and threatening to buy fake product instead:

Fangpusun

I imagine this was a board level decision by Victron and prices will only be reduced if sales fall significantly.

Dealers have told me they will negotiate on price, something they would not do before, so it may be worth haggling.

i had heard that the cost of a 40 ft shipping container from asia to australia has increased from $1200 dollars to $ 7500 , how that works out as cost per unit i wouldn't have a clue but i would imagine that there would be a lot of units per container.

It is true that container costs have increased significantly but given that the controller I have which increased from $275 to $383 is about 1kg and 200x150x100mm I suspect freight to Oz is a very small proportion of its retail cost here.

 Hi Mike smile

On another forum some time back a person had bought some Fangpusun gear and he reported that they were good and he had no trouble with them ! So they might be OK.

It is a bit of a kick in the guts here in Australia to be taken advantage of because we are remote and the competition is low so we pay top dollar for a lot of stuff. And the quality gear designed in Australia is sold for high prices because they can. Hmm rant over. hmm

Hi Warren

It was originally drawn for the New Yorker magazine in the early 1990s and a client gifted me a colour image of it shortly afterwards.

It has since been a favourite and when I see some of things people post I realised how insightful the cartoonist was :)

Victron multiplus. They knocked nearly $400 off just for the asking.

Multi split AC - knocked 100 dollars off the freight

Solar panels - about $30 per panel off, plus saved $150 by arranging my own freight. Don't ask, don't get

Solar controllers - decided victron are over the top so went with Renogy - little more than half the price. (I have both brands and they both work so...
