Some time go we were settling down for the night, I went to lock the door and accidentally triggered the lever that splits the door frame from the fly screen
this caused the door to jam and I could not unlock it for love or money
Typical male I refused to ring the after hours number at the caravan park
My wife opened the window and asked a bloke trundling back from the ablution block to unlock the door from the outside with the key
So VERY embarrassing!
The bloke laughed and said wait until I tell everyone on the caravan forum about this !
so what is the fix ? I have painted the offending horizontal lever with some red paint
As well I check that the door components are clipped shut properly
Don't feel too bad, I once locked myself inside my Iload van middle of summer, it's humiliating when you start banging on the windows screaming for help like a baby...
On Dometic doors the outer door release action is the reverse action of the inner door release (on the same catch) - It can jam if operated (lifted), without the striker actually being in place when in open positions. It is a common problem with "Hourglass" doors.

Hey Possum, I have no idea what constitutes an "hour glass" door.
On 14:32 Nov 5, 2021 he said "I have put some pics up in a new post." What he meant to say was "I have put some pics up in a new thread." The new thread is also in Techies' Corner.
