Farewell.

After reading those malicious lies posted by a forum member regarding my integrity and attempting to tarnish my reputation I have come to the conclusion that I no longer wish to be a part of a forum that contains such a low life. To those posters that have helped me over the years with various issues I have had with my van, I thank you once again. To the posters who have exchanged their opinions on various topics, I thank you and appreciate your opinions even if I did not agree. To the posters who posted various humorous articles, thank you for the laughs.

it is my intention to explore my legal options given this incident and as such do not think it is appropriate for me to remain a contributing member.

Farewell and safe travels.

Dmaxer

Hey Big D, sorry to see you have gone. I notice you have already deleted your account. So not sure if your are even reading this. Bugga!

I have enjoyed our many chats in the background and will miss them. It's a shame Cindy couldn't get rid of the trouble maker/s instead. I try and ignore a few myself but sometimes they slip under the radar.

I think you have my email address so hope you keep in touch.

Keep Safe mate.

Dmaxer, why should you leave, hopefully the other member has made a mistaken identity and realized their mistake, and makes a genuine apology.

If not,it is still better for you to stay and the other person to go,his rant was uncalled for.

Sorry to see you go, particularly as the result of a bitter person who posted those unpleasant, uncalled for and vitriolic comments. There is no place on this forum for attacks like that.

It should not be you leaving. Hopefully you will reflect on this decide to come back.

Take care out there DMaxer - perhaps you'll look in occasionally and perhaps even come to the forum sometime in the future - I think you have my e-mail address, if you need anything.

Old and Ornery/grey, it takes a big man to apologise unreservedly...

ps DMaxer, maybe you could sell the Dmax and come back as Triton, old bloke would love it :)

No doubt the old fella would love it,but he would be the only one! Comparing the DMax and the Triton is like comparing chalk and cheese. The DMax is a fantastic machine for safely towing up to about 3100kg,and is so far ahead of the Triton that it would be lonely.Cheers.

P.S I note that O&G seems not to have been back to the forum after his rant,so,DMaxer, perhaps it would be prudent not to make a hasty decision about your leaving the forum? Sometimes I disagree with your thoughts, but always you made valuable contributions,so perhaps you could reconsider? However,I do understand your decision not to be a forum member whilst considering legal action to clear your name.Good luck.

 Sorry to see Dmax go.

Just keep in mind yobarr, for every LC out on the road there are a dozen ****ty Tritons. Perhaps there is a reason.

You see, every product out there has its pros and cons. And buyers do the voting with their wallets. They are the judges.

Personally I thought mindless brand loyalty was a thing of the long ago past.  biggrin

I will miss DM, especially as he was always the ball in my court, stood up for me a lot, and was a straight shooter, that is rare today.

Of course there is a reason. They're cheap.

You see, every product out there has its pros and cons. And buyers do the voting with their wallets. They are the judges.

After many years in a highly paid commission-only sales role,I have a pretty good understanding of what motivates many buyers. It's called "El Cheapo".

Personally I thought mindless brand loyalty was a thing of the long ago past.  biggrin

Agreed. If I thought that there was any other vehicle that rivalled a 79,I certainly would consider it. When I was looking to buy a car to SAFELY tow my 3500kg ATM van to the back of beyond,I started with quite a list of candidates.Over a few months I test drove them all, including a couple of Yank Tanks, and rejected them as not suitable, until only one car remained,so I bought it. Now,nearly 5 years later, that car still is worth at least $20,000 more than I paid for it.Try that with your choice of vehicle.Cheers

I've often wondered how the law deals with the libel or vilification of an anonymous persona. How does a judge assess the damage sustained by someone who doesn't have a publicly recognisable identity?

There has been new laws put in place for just this sort of thing in the Anti-Cyber Bullying laws which mention "menace, harrass or cause offence" it covers a wide range of activity using a carriage service.

I agree Doug. His outburst was like the irrational ranting of a small child.

There is no excuse for being so uncivil to one-another. We should be mature enough to disagree, even strongly, with courtesy and if sometimes we fail then we should humbly apologise.

Most unfortunate, two members gone because of a few ill chosen words.

We don't have to agree with everything others say, the art is to disagree without causing offense.

Sad to see you go DMaxer your contributions on matters of law were always informative and well considered and will be missed. Fortunately this type of behaviour rarely occurs on the forum, and we should all be thankful for that.

Good luck on your travels mate.

It was good following your threads as well as the threads by the other members .I must admit i don't really like it

when things start getting out of hand ,no need for it .Anyway you take care with whatever you are doing or going to do.

Cheers ,

Just a little off topic, but I just need to say this.

Personally I thought mindless brand loyalty was a thing of the long ago past. But I was wrong. (See above)

biggrin

When I was looking to buy a car to SAFELY tow my 2500kg ATM van to the back of beyond, I started with quite a list of candidates. The Triton become the obvious pick. Considered Safe to tow 3t by, the design engineers at Mitsubishi, the State Government, incuding VicRoads. Has comfy suspension unlike some and a sensible price. Looks the goods too, not like a spud box. biggrin Afterall why would I buy a 20kg bag of spuds when I need enough for my bangers and three veg?. Yep, I made great decision that day. Saved a packet.  smile

And you ended up with a packet too. The chances of your vehicle even getting to the back of beyond are more remote than the areas it is likely to be able to reach. However,I am pleased to see that you believe that you have a fine vehicle. Each to their own,but seems that it doesn't take much to please some people.Good luck with your car, which may well be more than suitable to tow the van you have, but that's about it.Cheers
