Bt50 uni joints

Having just had the unit joints replaced on the 2014 bt50 I have what appears to be a driveline vibration at about 40/50 mph. I have crawled under and found the unit yokes are not in phase . I was wondering if this is right or has the two parts of the tailshaft been put together incorrectly?

Although by rule of thumb universal joints on most vehicles are supposed to be in phase. The front prop shaft on our Defender has to be assembled out of phase by a given number of spines.

This apparently is to do with the angles it is required to run at to achieve its high ground clearance.

Both U Joints on the same shaft should be fitted parallel. Vibration and wear to the joint and driven components will result. We have technicians these days working in stealerships. It looks like the day of the motor mechanic is fading into the past. The new personal are pretty good on the computer for electrical diagnosis but short on the basic engineering principals we were taught at tech.

Patrol 03 is 100% correct both crosses must be aligned ., and the person whom called himself a mechanic that did this should rectify it free of charge as well .

Woody and sue I'm not sure if you and Patrol3 are talking generally or referring to my earlier post. My 130 Defender was suffering from vibration and tearing out universals on the front prop shaft. On the Advice of an army mechanic in charge of the maintenance on a fleet of army Defenders I fitted the universals on the front shaft out of phase, this was in 2013 there has been no more vibration and no more universal problems since.
