From this link, we are manufacturing RAT kits in Brisbane and sending them to the USA.

https://www.smh.com.au/business/consumer-affairs/gold-standard-pcr-push-leaves-a-gaping-hole-in-rapid-test-supply-20211229-p59knx.html

while it appears we are buying the kits for our use from China.

It was reported this morning that Qld is desperate for testing kits. no

Nothing wrong with that. It's how it's done. Doesn't make sense? That's how it's done. Can't understand why? Does anyone.

Its simple really
The US placed orders and AU did not. First in best dressed. Once the US orders are filled, next in line will get theirs.

I think the government's did not want them in use when they began production so they went overseas. Now things have changed, they want to use them. Bad luck boys, we're busy sending all we can make over seas. Oh well, looks like we go with made in China. Another question is the difference in the cost between the 2.

Have to agree that we were probably too slow with an order or more to the point to confused with each others political stance to see we may need this product in the near future.
I have trouble realising that we need to buy of China or any other country when we have a manufacturer right here in Australia.
Cost should not be a factor. Could we run an exercise on cost of a test kit as opposed to all those who are waiting for test results to be able to return to work.

Is there any way of finding out what ATAGI were recommending at that time?

BTW, the locally made RATs (InnoScreen) are in the least sensitive category ("Acceptable sensitivity"):

https://www.tga.gov.au/covid-19-rapid-antigen-self-tests-are-approved-australia

There is no specific mention of the Omicron variant in the usage instructions:

https://www.tga.gov.au/sites/default/files/covid-19-rapid-antigen-self-tests-are-approved-australia-ifu-336146.pdf

However, the document is dated 14/10/2021, which predates Omicron ...

The way that I see it is in this country there is no one in charge that can see the big picture and if anyone does point out any anomaly then they are suppressed by the power brokers who have a hidden agenda with non disclosure of a simple fact.
All other excuses offered are in the most cases just that, excuses.

If we are paying more for Chinese test kits than we would for home made test kits I would like to know. How could we accept that. But either way we should be buying our own.

I don't think that the TGAI have yet approved the Australian made ones for Australian use.

Innoscreen, made by Innovation Scientific Pty Ltd (Australia), was approved by the TGA on 28 October 2021.

Well IF true then what a fantastic reason for us to ignore the ability of an AUSTRALIAN company to supply the test kits.

As I said above, all of the excuses are just that, EXCUSES. It would be hard to believe that the Aussie manufacturer could not comply if required.

Not as well as the PCR tests but the PCR testing sites can't keep up with demand because of the governments' policies of 'ride the wave' or 'let it rip' so we have to resort to self testing.

In today's Coronacast Dr Norman Swan said that Omicron was 1/3 to 1/2 as deadly as the original virus and that according to evolutionary virologist, Eddie Holmes, Omicron won't be the last and in fact the next variant probably won't evolve from Omicron. Also, according to Eddie, the next variant is likely to be more contagious, be more immune to the vaccines and possibly more deadly.

Furthermore, the poor economy that we are having is due to those policies.

This talk of getting over the hump and we'll be fine, that we hear from the politicians, is rubbish according to the epidemiologists. We need to get everyone in the world, triple vaccinated AND control the transmission with mandatory N95 mask wearing, social distancing, isolation of infected people and monitoring of the viral genealogy, but the politicians are ignoring that advice in the false belief that the virus will sort itself out.  no

Unfortunately the quote of getting over this imaginary hump being made by so many social commentators, political and media representatives is not the view of many doctors and medical staff.
The reports have no real founding but the stories manage to fill most media broadcast time slots.
These presenters have little to no care if what they are reporting is based on fact.

News this morning is that 600m+ supplied covid kits are being dumped right now in poorer countries due to near expiry date or poor storage facilities, what a waste.

It was just reported that the RAT consignment that was destined for QLD was redirected by the feds to be distributed in NSW.

But wait. That is not all.

A following report was a story on how the NSW Premier wanted the Hillsong Church charged and fined for holding a concert style worship session for their young followers but then it was reported that the NSW police would not act because the Police claimed all was above board.

But wait. That is not all.

It was stated by the Hillsong Church that they would have every member tested with a RAT test before the congregation is permitted to leave.

But wait. That is still not the end.

Then a member of the public openly reported in the same bulletin that there were no RAT test kits at all in NSW.

Now does anyone smell a RAT. pardon the pun..

But isnt our Federal Leader a well respected member of the very same congregation.

No!! He wouldnt redirect the QLD shipment of test kits to Newcastle to be used by the Hillsong Church. Would he?

A good news story, but I wonder if local vaccine manufacturers will get onboard:

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/1/14/us-researchers-share-covid-19-vaccine-with-the-world

Researchers in the United States have created a cheap, easy-to-produce COVID-19 vaccine that may offer a solution to unequal vaccine access in developing countries.

Bypassing the patent restrictions of major pharmaceutical firms, doctors Maria Elena Bottazzi and Peter Hotez at the Baylor College of Medicine and the Texas Childrens Hospital Center for Vaccine Development used traditional vaccine technology that can be deployed rapidly to help inoculate the global population.

That most certainly is a good news story dorian.

Lets hope that the ongoing development and manufacture of the vaccine will not get bogged down with a barrage of legal challenges from the people who can most afford to protect their intellectual property and their patents.
Unfortunately, this type of action seems to be a way of the western world unless the patent is infringed by China.

Like many politicians I think he goes where the votes may be. I am not aware of his actual original religious devotion.

His association with the HC goes back a fair way as reported here. At least to 2008 I believe, according to the article.

We could be talking here of denomination, faith or *who is ya mate.*

When it comes to The Hillsong mob promising the NSW authorities that they will ensure testing the flock that were present at the music festival or church service, call it what you like, it is probably very beneficial to have our Scotty as an *old mate*

I saw that news report and it was confirmed that there were virtually no RAT test kits available for anyone let alone the Hillsong Church.

In reality the whole situation of testing kits, hospital numbers, nursing and medical staff, other essential services staff and the pandemic in general is nothing but a train wreck with our very own Casey (Scotty) Jones at the wheel.

Sounds great.  Lets hope that it does indeed deliver what it promises.

Of course the right wing Govts (that includes the US Democrats IMHO) including ours will be reluctant to adopt this opportunity as it does not fit the Capitalist model.   Not sure that it fits a socialist model either LOL!

It does however bring to our attention the vast amount of good work that is done, largely under the media horizon, by a large number of US philanthropic organisations.  They deserve far more acclaim than is the case.

Why is the story not 'front page' stuff on our mainstream media but left to Al Jazeera?

ps. I think that I'll see if I can subscribe to Al Jazeera news feeds.

If I  remember correctly, very early on in the pandemic

The W.H.O. did ask for all vaccine manufacturers, to allow poorer countries to make it royalties free

If they had done so, we may not have had, so many mutations

That's right and they still are.

According to epidemiologists, SARS-CoV2 will keep on mutating until everyone in the world is properly vaccinated. Omicron is not the last we'll see of this pandemic.

china, china, china, what a bunch of liars and thieves they are, early in the pandemic, which they started and spread around the world, they had their china based companies in Sydney force their staff to go shopping and buy up all the toilet paper and sanitiser, masks etc, to send by the container load back to china, even thought they manufacturer their own.

This is so the virus could cause more damage to our financial security. Then they started to damage our export markets. They also told lies about their control of the virus.

Just recently they said the had 3 cases in a city of 13 plus million people so the locked down the whole place, they probably had close to millions sick but they lie so much to make themselves look good.

This is only the start of their financial war to take over the world. Their record on human rights and victimisation is well documented, as well as holding all their population to ransom if they don't tow the line and do as they are told is causing problems in their own country.

Telling Australia to keep their nose out of their business has just reared it's head about the arrest and illegal imprisonment of a reporter who tells it like it is. It's about time Scomo tells them where to go, he the most gutless a prime minister we have had since Paul Cheating.

Tell hillsong to pull their heads in and stop risking the lives of all the hard working Australians who are doing the right thing, this mob and all the antivaxes can go and live in china and see how long they last.
