I think Jade was suggesting to parallel connect the output of the inverter to one of the 240 sockets, so that all sockets had 240v power whether on mains power or inverter power.
If so, I believe that would be a very bad idea. When the inverter is on, the exposed pins on the external power socket for mains power would be live. A death risk. If you plugged mains power into it, it would probably just blow the inverter and who knows what else. And of course, for reasons like this only electricians are allowed to work on 240v wiring.
The right way to do it (when done by an electrician) is to install a switch to choose between mains power or inverter, never both.
Wasn't there a thread on here about this same subject recently.
Note: I am no expert on electricals and maybe there is a better solution I am not aware of.

There are modern systems that sense mains input and switch between inverter and mains supply when connected to shore power and at the same time isolating chargers etc.
They aren't DIY (and shouldn't be) so not cheap. They're increasingly common in higher end camper vans and I presume caravans are the same. Inverters coupled with Lithium are almost a standard feature now so the auto-sense operation makes life easier.
I have no idea which 3rd party might supply and install and I don't even know the industry name for them because I've only seen new installs in completed vans but ask around.
My 3.0kVA UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to run computers when a blackout causes a surprise would be what you need.
I also have additional back up batteries. The UPS automatically switches to DC when Energy Australia goes pear shape... to frequently for my liking.
Last blackout for hours was Christmas Eve, all the neighbours were coming around asking why we had power as our Unit was lit up like a Christmas Tree. Actually I turned on extra lights to create mischief!
Eaton supplies the systems. Depending on the model you can keep adding various quantities of batteries depending how long you need to run.
