Caravan water pressure

My van has a reduced water pressure inlet , but the pressure is so that to have a shower the tanks must have water in them and the pump turned on.is the a difference in the pressure inlet or can it be changed to get a reasonable tap pressure. The van is a Roma.

It sounds like your shower is not connected to the mains pressure, and must be pumped from your tank. Do other outlets work without needing to run the pump?

The common installation is for there to be two separate water inlets on the van. One is for mains pressure, and there will usually be a pressure limiting valve incorporated in it. It will not fill the water tanks. There is a separate filler to fill the tanks.

A possible problem you have is,

The pressure reducing valve near where you hook up to town water on your caravan is not operating properly.

Its jammed shut, reducing the water flow.

On our caravan it is a bass one, remove from the caravan, generally on a blue pipe, held by john guest fittings, after removal, carefully place it in a vice and pull it apart, clean, place some water grease on the sliding 'o' part and reassemble.

Hope its a easy fix.

Did the shower ever work without the pump on, but hooked to mains pressure ? If so, it's as Radar suggests and the pressure reducing valve is blocked.

Is there water at kitchen sink without pump on? or anywhere else? Process of elimination .

Cheers Bob

Hi

if you are bringing water in through the mains water at the caravan park and you are using a filter cartridge in your hose inlet , remember they dont lsat forever . try changing for a new one . Same goes for any other filter cartridges in the water lines

This makes sense given the limited info we have.

But,, the OP has not returned.

Sorry for delay, have been away, yes seperate fillers for both tanks but hav fitted a balance tube between both tanks. Think the problem is the inlet restriction as mentioned in other replies not home will investigate thanks.

As mentioned by others, the problem will be the pressure reduction valve, which is a cylindrical brass fitting in line somewhere near the water inlet for your van. You can pull these apart and lubricate them and stretch the spring a bit... then you can chuck it in the bin and buy a decent one from Reece Plumbing or the like. You will need a PRV 350kpa/50psi plus a non return valve plus a brass joiner. From experience, Tomson brand works well. Cheers Greg

I just found out that when using an inline filter, dont turn the connecting hose on highish pressure. I woke the other morning to find the hose had blown off early in the night unseen, creating quite a flood around the van ...oops !

Flow or volume can be adjusted by a tap/valve , not pressure.   KB
