Maroochydore to Batemans Bay

Hi. To all.
Being my first post. We are traveling for the first time with our new caravan. We have planned our way to Maroochydore. But need a way from Maroochydore to Bateman Bay not going through Sydney. Can some who may have done this route advise.

We have a 20-6 foot van. And dont want to much trouble. Our longest trip towing is Melbourne to Rosebud so this will be an experience for both of us.

look forward too any advise on which way to go.

regards Bruce

When you say you don't want to go through Sydney, are you talking about the busy streets of Sydney or the entire metropolitan area.  There is an expressway coming from the north of Sydney which you come down and you can stay on that expressway all the way to the Picton Road turnoff which will take you to Batemans Bay.

I have pulled my 21'6" van through Sydney many times, usually preferring the toll free old Cumberland Highway.

I approach Sydney from Newcastle on the M1, turning onto the A1 at Wahroonga, then the A3 (north) at Pymble towards Mona Vale and then along the beach to Narrabeen.

We stay at Narraben Lakeside CP for  a few days using the great Public Transport to explore Manly & the CBD etc. before returning to Pymble to take the A3 south through Sydney.

I have never had traffic troubles & find Sydney drivers far more courteous than their Brisbane equivalents.  Sunday morning after a few days at Narrabeen is a good time to travel.

The A3 becomes the A1 as you get out of Sydney & takes you whatever way you choose further south on The Princess Highway.

Use your GPS & you'll have no trouble.

Edit.  If you don't want to break your trip at Narrabeen, then when the M1 from Newcastle ends, choose the A1 (have a good look at your map of this area) until it meets the A3 at Pymble and take it through Sydney until it becomes the A1 on the south side & off you go towards Melbourne etc. on The Princess Highway.
