Battery Lifter,Carrier a real one

DSCN7511.JPGDSCN7512.JPGWish I had found this before I changed the bloody heavy battery in the boot. It must be 50 years old I guess.

It looks simple to use. That is, it seems to hold onto the terminal posts without having to tighten anything. Someone really knew their stuff.

It also quite amazing in the difference between the "built in " lift handle and this . Feels like about half the weight, better distribution ? and a soft wide handle rather than a skinny plackky one. No good on the "postless " or screw in terminals though. Also the strap is only fastened by 2 rivets,3/16 at each end.

You can make the same thing with a couple of large washers.

Just drill a hole in the washer and poke some cord through the hole and tie a knot. That's what I used as an apprentice Motor Mechanic. I posted a pic/ sketch here some time ago.

Would that system not put a lot of stress onto the terminals particularly with lead acid type batteries, thereby possibly introducing cracks in the plate contacts and possibly even the case?
