Does anyone want some rain?

Bring your buckets, tanks to Qld!

We've been told it is bucketing down at home (Townsville), the whole east coast too. We ran into some light showers yesterday west of Mitchell, more consistent around Roma through to Injune. Then today from just south of Springsure through to Capella. And tomorrow? Another day at Capella if the Belyando River comes up??

It was interesting to watch the idiots drive at over 100kph in heavy rain - I was sitting on 80-95 kph, slowing down at one dangerous spot, approaching a bridge with a big truck coming towards me & water everywhere!

The only river in our current area without a flood watch is the Paroo!!

And we've found some new leaks in the van - eg around the TV aerial winder, a couple of windows.

Please send me some tank filling rain. Have fitted a drinking water 2200lt tank in the last 2 weeks, as apparently we were going to get some rain. I set the outlet at 200lt mark, so I would have weight to hold the tank down in wind, but all we have had is 50kg's worth. Have gone ahead and done a tie down to star pickets in the ground. Didn't want to do this, as my last tank a Gal, had survived with 100kgs worth of weight for over 20 ears before it rusted away. We are supposed to be getting rain from this mass coming down the coast and hinterland, from QLD. Got cloud but no bloody rain. On the other hand I have to do some work on the camper while it is open, it is important, so don't need rain for that. Damned if it does rain , damned if it doesn't rain - can't win.

And we're at the great Capella caravan park for a second night (it would be nice to go home). We packed up & left this morning only to be recalled by the caravan park that a river north of Belyando Crossing was up, the Belyando was rising. We called the Clermont park - finding that they only had one site left & knowing how crowded that one gets, we came back to Capella & enjoyed some bird watching around the town. Got a few nice birds for our annual list!

The creek just north of the town was rising rapidly this afternoon, so we'll view our chances tomorrow. Charters Towers was an island today, isolated in all directions.
And just for something "different" tomorrow, it's supposed to be raining again tomorrow!

Ric, as many told us the "we" got a lot of rain in Feb, March (all we got was heat & record high humidity) while southern Qld got flooded, didn't you get any of the flooding from northern NSW? Oh, water doesn't flow up the ranges!
PS - my van needs some work done on it too - have found some not so nice leaks!

During the flood period, early this year, didn't get more then an inch over the same period, if anything no more then about 13 mm. It has rained in the catchment up stream which has been good for the towns water supply, as we get it from the river, but that's all we have got. It is drizzling now, and we are expecting 5 mm for the next week all up.

May I suggest drop down the range at Nebo at return to TVL via the Bruce Highway.
