Gas burner ring not getting gas

Gas burner ring not getting gas through (the large one) the other two are working well. Gasd bottles are full. It's a Thetford oven & grill combination in my Jayco outback Starcraft. Any suggestions on likely reason ?

Perhaps more info.
Most likely a blocked jet.
Remove the ring and should be a jet there. Remove it and clean. Perhaps soak in kero or petrol. Avoid using wire etc.

Best shut off gas at bottle first.

Not identical but you will get the idea.

My 4 burner gas stove has always been poor.  None of the jets burns very strongly.

I discovered that the jets are all different sizes & therefore burn at different rates.

It sounds like one of yours is blocked.   Perhaps the pipe feeding mine is too.   Just a PITA to get it off and check/clean.

Old Bloke's advice sounds right to me.

 Hi Cupie,

Sounds like you may have a regulator issue.

Sorry to pinch the thread so I'll keep it brief .

I had the problem before I changed the regulator due to a gas HWS issue.  Having said that, the changed regulator is about 10 years old & I was advised by the gas man that they clog up with the gunk that is in the gas to give it a smell .. last about 8 years.  So it is due for a change anyway.

Thanks for the advice.

 Have you tried adjusting it?

Had a problem with my BabyQ. Low flame, rang Webber looking to buy a new burner but was advised to check the Regulator. On the Regulator there is a small ring on which is a breather hole on the side. Was as was advised that it may be clogged up and to use a paper clip to unclog it. Now burns at full strength.

Good advice from Webber, could have sold me a new burner.

Hendo

Remove top of burner. In the middle you will find a jet. Go to Bunnings and buy a jet cleaner set, (looks like a folding packet of fine needles of varying sizes) find the one that fits yours and just make sure it is clear. Clean the burner with soapy water, dry and replace.

 Hi Cupie,

I decided after reading on this great info forum,"that one should replace your regulatory", as ours is coming up to 10 years old I rang our friendly licensed gas person who I used previously back in 2016 for rego purposes.

The Gasman sent his offsider this time, a experienced Lady Gas person, after doing a bit of a test here & there, tested and adjusted the 12 year old regulatory, a small adjustment, it was clean and then replaced a pig tail that I believe was leaking. To find the leak you needed to hold the end at a angle.

So don't throw your regulator away get it checked, tested and adjusted first.

I do a lot of things myself but with more and more regulations, I found it just as easy to call the tradie.

Yep getting a tradie is good advice.

In my case my son has a gas licence, but getting him here with his kit is nearly impossible. Too busy!

I'll just have to shame him by paying for a tradie .. just as I did to fix a leaking roof gutter.

SS shrouded gas lines tend to shed rubber as well as the reg.

Been 3 weeks since the OP, so probably sorted by now, but it will most likely be a blocked jet, found under the burner steel plate.

Use an old toothbrush, the fine bristles can get in the hole without damaging it.
