Battery warranty?

I've started a new thread as I didn't wish to hijack the one posted by Goldenyears.

He's talking of buying a 200Ah lithium battery which will cost at least $1500, possibly much more. All batteries in Oz come with a warranty both provided by the seller and mandated by law. It is very difficult with a sealed battery to determine its "health" indeed there is an Australian standard devoted to this subject.

Therefore if I buy a battery, sealed lithium or lead acid, and believe it is failing prematurely how do I go about proving this to the seller's satisfaction if he refuses my claim? I know the technical answer to this question and it is virtually impossible for most people to achieve - and at anything between $1500 and $5k for said battery we're starting to talk serious money.

My question:

Has anyone returned a battery under warranty - lithium or lead acid, with a value over, say, $300 and had a successful outcome? Or, indeed, tried to and had an unsuccessful outcome?

My neighbour had a very long argument with Honda about their badge engineered batteries due to the shit battery put in his by now 18 month old car. I lent him a badge engineered Land Rover battery and spare jumper leads which started his car every time.

At the end of the day with endless haggling, and my neighbour knows how to haggle, all he got was the pro-rata age of the pathetic 47AH battery they shoved it the car. So in other words two thirds of fuck all.

Don't expect much recourse, life is too short, as their aim is to grind you down, even the best of complainants.

Purchased an AGM Battery that was tired after 16 months, rang to enquire about warranty, was asked whether it was a Cranking Battery or AGM was told.... Cranking batteries have a 3 year warranty and AGM's only 12 months was given various reason for the low AGM warranty ( cannot remember)

I had one an Australian, wholly owned and manufactured here, AGM, 105 amp, lasted 2.5 years, they said no warranty, same company, car battery, 2yrs 1month old told me to get stuffed, I still have the car battery, it has a dead cell, but still got full charge, they said, it is one month out of warranty, so they wouldn't warrant it, so will never buy Aussie made batteries again, unless they can guarantee their warranty. Predominately all their batteries are rubbish.

Had a cranking battery replaced under warranty, no problems, the new one had the date of the original stamped on it. Thats fine, its four years old now and has done a lap and a half, starting a 6.5L diesel. Owes me nothing.

DO, an Interesting write up/great price on the 135Ah battery.

Would like a user to give their thoughts.

Thanks
