There is potholes in the potholes in the new sections.
Talking to a service station employee and they had reports of the road north of Bowen being even worse than south.

you drove passed and didn't toot your horn or waved.....twice......I'm gutted

I am afraid that I was applying most of my concentration on the road and its terrible condition.

I was doing a friend a favour driving her to Bowen as she was not confident with the trip and I was glad I did drive her considering the road.

I may not be up that way again for a while as I want to head inland and then north when I can be assured that we are into a Qld winter weather pattern and this rain is over at least for a few months.

I am in no hurry so taking it as it comes.

I will go go where the road takes me and see what happens.

I was going to catch up with Rob Driver but his treatment is knocking him about so I will leave that visit until later in the year.

That is a very sensible post.

While staying put we've seen people pull out of camps with 70kph winds forecast. The BOM always say that wind gusts can be 30% over the expected figure.

An unexpected 100kph gust & off the road you go, particularly in wet weather.

People seem to enjoy trying to meet self created deadlines.

Who cares if you miss the first day of a three day country music festival, is it really worth risking your rig & possibly your life?

In my experience wind gusts are routinely 50% above the forecast average and occasionally double.

I agree; a car and caravan is not a particularly stable combination so why add bad weather to your problems. And have you noticed how few adjust their speed downwards when experiencing poor weather?
