I have just installed a new C260 Thetford toilet but the wires are different on the new on. The old 260 had negative black and positive red and a white connected with negative black and a blue wire. The new one has normal positive and negative and purple wire and gray wire. Does anyone know how to connect them up correctly.
Unfortunately very few caravan manufacturers follow (or even know) Australian wiring standards - Test the old wiring loom with a meter or test lamp to determine correct polarity - then wire as per Thetford handbook that should have been supplied with new unit.

The installation manual says the Red and Black are house battery +12V and Ground while the Purple is relay common and Grey is the relay Normally Open connection.
I suspect that Grey will be connected to +12V while common takes power to the pump then on to Ground. A multimeter should confirm which colour is +12V.
bye.

I've also just installed a new Thetford. The grey and purple I just taped up because I'm happy to control the water supply by using the caravan pump or mains pressure. Interesting I've just been talking to a Jayco owner who complained that when on mains pressure the pump still operates when they flush. The noise is a bother. I suggested he disconnect the grey and purple like I did but he thinks that's too hard. This new Thetford is so much better than the Dometic I threw away.
