Heading to the South(and slightly East) coast..., from the South West corner.

Living on the South West corner, trips up North during winter are a long held tradition.
This year more than ever there were just way too many people travelling along the North West Coastal Highway...., big trailered boats, bigger caravans, RV's..., mix in the B doubles, triples and quads(goldfields). I managed to find some places where big rigs couldn't go...., cammo nets are very useful - especially on the coast and over in the goldfields. Anyway..., just recently returned and happy to be home with the fire going with comforting noise of frogs and flowing creek.

And as the days are(very slowly) warming, I'll be taking in short trips along the south coast to various sites..., where I can have a campfire..., or similar.
Not so many travellers thereabouts this time of year..., and sometimes there are great little weather windows too.
In fact I have just returned from a 4 day trip to Fish Creek, Moores Hut, Donnelly River etc etc. Just beautiful.

I agree re so many people travelling. I have also decided to stay in the south west but struggling with all the rain a bit. Ah well - have a 2 week house sit at the end of this week so will be able to dry out a bit.

I agree. I have high tailed it out of NT and NW Western Australia. It is a mad house. I have never seen so many people travelling and what scares me is that you can see a lot of newbies. Way way over weight and carrying everything including a 2nd kitchen sink. At Sandfire roadhouse it was 15 vehicles deep to refuel. One CP was charging over $100 for a powered site. I quickly got down to the SW of Western Australia to get away from the crowds. Now sitting in Eucla heading to the Eyre Peninsula for some fishing before heading home to Victoria. My days of heading "North" during the Southern winter are now over. It will be short planned trips in the future. The other reason I will not be heading North is because the NT government has removed achohol restrictions and the Federal government is poised to remove the cashless card. This will create mayhem. Sorry for the negativity .....l it is just my opinion.

Hopefully when overseas travel gets back to new-normal the numbers will drop a bit

In August 2019 we slowly drove from Perth to Poison Creek all along the coast & ducked inland a bit here & there. Very few people, often in the more remote camp grounds we were the only ones there. Then headed home to Sydney via Great Central Road.
