Weber Q cleaners

They say don't use oven cleaners in your baby q to clean them,

So is the Weber BBQ cleaner any good $15 for 500ml

Or is there something better and cheaper

Grease remover, a brush and a hose. I can imagine oven cleaner may dissolve the painted finish.

It's probably that oven cleaners are caustic & that doesn't go well with aluminium. If it gets under the paint it will react with the aluminium then stuff the paint.

i shouldn't help you mate cos you are a cowboy and I'm an Indian and all that but because you are a good bloke I will biggrin

I have found the Weber BBQ cleaner works OK but I mainly just use BBQ Wipes and the wire brush. No brush on lid of course.

My Baby Q is 8 years old and still looks almost like new. I use Selleys BBQ cleaner on the inside with a stainless steel mit. I clean the grills in the washing up water also with the s/s mit. the secret is to clean it every time before you put it away. we do not stay in one location more that 7 days so it does get a regular clean. Great product with fantastic backup service. Webber replaced a failed electronic lighter after 6 years at no charge as they said that part should last longer. They even paid the freight from their warehouse in Adelaide. After that I would not consider any other brand. As a matter of interest our three burner Webber at home is over 20 years old and still going strong.

Hi Cowboy.

Both the Weber BBQ cleaners do their respective jobs well.

Glitz BBQ Grill Cleaner also does a better job than most other cleaners put together on cleaning old oil and grease.

The Weber Q's, if used enough will build up a thick crusty layer from the 'smoke' under the lid which will eventually peel off on it's own accord leaving the underside of the lid almost like new again.

Cheers, Joe.

Let it soak, wire brush . Coat with oil . Leave some on there !! Actually covering with sugar when warm . It crystallise and melts into burnt food .Then wipe , wash off !

Just chuck it out every year & replace it. It's not worth the time cleaning for the value of the product.

Have you tried ammonia on the residue, it cleans rangehood filters very efficiently.
