RE: Optus data breach

More like fabricated.

The government, media and every other so called expert were overstating the size of the hack, this smacks of a duplication of the Covid response, overaction, scare campaign that had millions to be scared $hitless, normal sane people become scared of their own shadow, the big covid bogeyman is waiting get them.

Its easier to shoot from the lip before the facts are available, rather wait till the facts are available.

Yes Optus is at fault, but as usual the hindsight experts have had their say.

The  site doesn't need to be hacked, just join as a member and legitimately view profiles.

Talking of hacking; how secure is the administrators password Cindy? Not very is my suspicion :)

I use a low level password for this and similar sites which will take 9 hours to crack but for banking and such I use a much more secure password which will take 200 years to crack:

Password strength test

Here's a surprise:

Even if having the strongest password in the world, it's beside the point.

If an operator of any system leaves a window partially open somewhere. The burglar will get in somewhere.

If someone thinks that grey nomads have enough assets, then they will get the data, as the returns will be worth it.

I did read than there are increasingly numbers of tax refunds being paid to carbon copies of people.

I suppose apart from being careful, is to document everything you do for ammunition if things get ugly.
