A brand new EV for $22,500

Right now in Thailand, you can buy a brand new, Chinese made, Toyota Yaris size, electric vehicle for $22,500 drive way. The car comes with a 5 year / 100,000 km warranty and a separate 8 year / 180,000 km warranty on the battery.

The claimed travel distance is 380 kms with recharge times of AC (at your home) being 8 hours and Quick Charge being 30 minutes.

The car has the normal array of features found in 2022 model cars such as air con, allow wheels, electric windows, touch screen sound system / command centre, etc.

Why isn't such a car available in Australia?

Unfortunately it wouldn't tow my van out of the driveway so I'm not interested - OK for a replacement Granny Gopher - If needing just transport around town a quality 4 wheel mobility scooter can be had for around three grand.

What irks me is the cost and waiting list of a decent tug - Patrol or LC 300.

It would be my guess that the unit being sold in Thailand wouldn't pass Australia's strict VDR's.

Just as well you have no input as to how this country is run otherwise we would still
have steam powered vehicles, horse drawn carriages and kerosene lamps.
Progress - who needs it?

Not me - I could survive quite well with kerosine lamps and riding horses - that's how I was raised. In fact, we try to emulate that beautiful period of time by camping - love it.
