2019, a digger wrecked a cable north of Cairns resulting in no mobile phone or data for the whole of the Cape York Peninsula. In Weipa the supermarket had satellite phone communication but limited transaction amounts. No ATMs, no phone calls, no petrol or diesel and no hotel or caravan park unless by cash.
I do have laptop, iPad, and iPhone, but TV - forget it, anything worth watching I can stream to the computer via the internet.
