Is it me, must be as I am the only one who can see the difference. But I've been to a few dance parties of late, and the so-called bands are mainly a guitarist and singer, of course they can play an entire orchestra, basically a glorified Karaoke setup. Had a band in at the weekend 2 guitarists, drums, keyboard and karaoke background. What my problem is, the sounds are not pure, but digitally messed around. Being very deaf I find the noise is un-pleasant.
Are we now accepting sub-standard music as the norm, I can see why some are turning back to vinal records.
I think a DJ playing CD's would be more effective.
Hi-Fi is an unknown word today. We had one of the Australian Bands in the village where I live. They played all sorts of music, and it was all played on site via the various instruments they had, fantastic singers. It sounded sooo good, no pre-recorded stuff, or messy mixers. Don't ever miss a chance to hear them live folks.
I've been playing guitar since 1964, there are some fantastic gadgets around these days. I can make myself sound like a full band with these three units. Far left: This unit has 80 different guitar sounds plus an inbuilt drum machine. Centre: Is a looper, it records what I play & then repeats it while I play over the top of it. It basically creates layers of sound. Far right: Is a vocal echo unit, it has infinite voice adjustments & a processor that irons out any flat or sharp notes that I might sing. I still love vinyl, I've got around 300 albums.
Hi Patrick, Gave Bertha Bass a bit of a run last Saturday with a guy on the 88 and a mate on sax. The old folks loved it especially when I told them how old I was!. Music is my life, has been ever since Ma nad Pa bought me piano aged ten. Good to hear that you are keeping your hand in Patrick, I mostly play for my own enjoyment now but still like to do the odd gig here and there.
Accompanied James Last and Bert Kaempfert a couple of nights ago. Great CDs!!!!!
You're right Tony Bev it's not the same but it's very close. In my younger days the band i was working with had a residency at a restaurant for 18 months ,6 nights
a week and we would have to learn new material on the run ,not easy to do , but now there are backing tracks (canned music) which made life a lot
easier and that comes with technology which does make life easier , and , that is why soloist and duo's will work with backing tracks ,a big sound for minimal
amount of people .I myself love the sound of a big band but i don't like the problems that goes with it.
