Its getting worse & worse !! They said it was hamstring tendons . But often when I walk or change direction it seems my hip pops out !! Terrible pain for a few house down to my knee . Seems anti inflammatory works then when hip pops it starts all over again !! Theres not much you can do ! even tying laces up, getting in out of car !! Anyone had hip replacement ? Please tell me it fixed !! The pain !! Graeme
be very very careful, get correct scan,x ray, injection to test the hip and then be sure that temporarily fix the pain. My hip was ordinary, but masked the sympton of crook back, so lost a lot of flexibility with replacement, and now still have most of pain.
Lots of people have great success, not this little black duck but.
I know hip replacements have improved over the years but it's worth mentioning that hip replacements don't last forever my dad outlived his last hip replacement (not enough bone left for another) and his last 2years were dreadful, I will eventually need my right hip replaced but I'm putting it off for as long as possible by finding the right physio who has given me exercises (including hamstring stretches) and
finding the right mattress has improved things dramatically and I no longer have a clicky hip.
If only I could help all my other hurty bits (I'm trying)
Often now when I walk it feels like it pops out and the pain down my leg is terrible ! Sitting in Bus or plan is bad news if I cant put my legs forward ., Ive done all the physio things
!! The joint still pops . The inflammation meds work . Then when I walk the hip pops and the pain starts ., I dont think they remove as much joint bone as they used too ? Maybe a few. Cable ties will do ?

I was told that I limped for years but I wasn't aware of it. I had no pain.
When I retired, I joined a gym & found I couldn't do a couple of exercises, so off to the doctor, off for an x-ray, off to an orthopaedic surgeon! After the full replacement, the surgeon said I was with months of being wheelchair bound as the knuckle had gone almost all the way through! That was my right hip - no more limping!
My second one two years later however gave me quite a bit of pain - this time I only had to have the Birmingham Cup fitted - just a titanium liner between the knuckle & the socket.
The first one was done 15 years ago, occasionally squeaks when I bend over (needs a grease nipple?) - otherwise no problems. I was told they last about 25 years.
My advice - if it's giving you pain, start the process - at least get an x-ray & you'll have an idea what's going on. If you have private health insurance, it's a lot quicker than the public system that could take years. There may be out of pocket costs though with the private deal.

My brother in-law in Germany had both hips replaced in two separate operations a few years apart.
The second hip replacement got an infection. I won't go into detail as such, but it was horrendous.
A few months ago he had the second hip replaced again. 6 weeks with no hip & basically a useless leg.
Fortunately the replacement replacement hip seems to be ok so far, but I think we need another year for certain.
We were pretty worried he would take a rope due to the pain & the whole long term suffering. I think I would have piped the car exhaust into the car in a closed & sealed garage.
I have spoken to other people abouthio replacement, who have had no issues at all. Probably luck of the draw.
Also you have to sit & move a certain way for a few months so you don't accidentally dislocate the new hip.
