For the first time since covid started, we have returned to Sydney to have Xmas with two of our sons.
The drive between Brissy and Sydney was pretty good sitting on a dollar 10 most of way, alas the NSW should pull its finger out and get the Coffs bypass completed, and then on last segment of the Princess Hwy, a bingle between 2 trucks south of Gosford had managed to create a massive slow moving car park to the northconnex, I bailed out and went Pennine hills rd/Cumberland hwy which was movi g faster.
We are just back home in Brissy after a jaunt down to Sydney.
What a pleasure it was to trundle down the divided highway all the way, except for that annoying Coff's section. I could just stay on my 80 to 90 preferred speed without holding up others. Relaxing!
All those years of roadworks on the Pacific Highway were well worth it.
Just wish that Qld could get serious about the Bruce.
Cupie we often drive through Coffs and I agree it can be a bit annoying especially towing a van in heavy traffic. I still remember what travelling the old Pacific Hwy from Newcastle to the Gold Coast used to be like so now I just treat it as a minor inconvenience and turn up the music.. We only got back from 10 weeks and 10.000kms crisscrossing your wonderful state and that included driving from Cairns down to Gympie on the Bruce before we decided to head back inland. I was actually amazed at the amount of major roadwork projects that are currently underway on different sections of that Hwy, they annoyed the crap out of me because of the constant delays but when they are finished I'm sure like just the Pacific Hwy upgrade it will be well worth it.

We usually choose to go south rather than north from Brissy (for our coastal trips), so aren't familiar with the current state of the Bruce, having given up on it a few years ago. It's good news to hear of the upgrades but it will be even better when they are finished.
I am currently planning our 2023 coastal trip that will probably break the pattern & take us north.

Coffs Harbour. There is a simple solution which requires the politicians to remove their heads out
of their backsides.
Rather then the complicated and costly proposal to go through the mountain why not simply
build an overpass on top of the town.
North and south exits line up, no farms would be adversely affected and possibly a number
of other good reasons.
Unfortunately those of us who navigate along the Bruce Hwy, find the roadworks very annoying, sections between Bowen and Proserpine have been going for over 3 years, one of the contractors on that section went broke almost 12 months ago, and there is replacement tenders been called for yet. The then the section between Bororen and Gin Gin seem to be travelling at a snails pace add to that the northern approach to Gympie excellerated roadworks have started.
Besides that it great to be able to catch up with 2 of our sons, who we haven't seen since the start of Covid, we plan to stay here until after new year.
I think some of the NSW roads west of the great divide, will see forced back up the coast road, I hope not.
