I have a registered Toyota Coaster bus and am converting to a Camper. Taking all (bar 2) seats out and am changing rego to a Panelvan. I'm getting a retired Electrician to do the work, do I need to get a Registered Electrician to sign off on the work? Thanks in advance, Melissa
Welcome to GN's Melissa, I believe you will get a better deal registering as a motor home - in any case just taking out seats permanently would require Engineer Certification - Check with Colin Young, Senior Engineer at Caravan Council of Australia. He is a very helpful guy that will always set you on the right path.
Re (If the vehicle has and 240 volt equipment, get a licensed electrician as we are not allowed to do 240v work)
Agree, BUT make sure he looks up the Regs for RV's and get a certificate that details all power points and electrical equipment that he has installed/checked.

Hi Auzmel
You should discuss this with your retired electrician. If he has only done normal house work then he may not be familiar with the differences required for mobile caravan wiring and fittings. There is a seperate code for this. He could look it up at a library etc and he should be able to see the differences to the normal wiring code.
