Our second child was born in a little used military hospital (somewhere on the planet). Of course, as babies are wont, he began the arrival process at about 10pm so by the time we got to the maternity unit it was around midnight. We rang the bell and were let in by a female midwife nurse officer, as we walked past the delivery rooms a blood curdling female scream was emitted... "Oh... don't worry about that said the midwife... she's Italian."
You probably have to know the Italians to see the humour :)
