My turn this morning to get out of bed to go down to the kitchen to make morning drinks. Tea for MrsTea & coffee for me. The outdoor undercover kitchen is reached via the carport. Whilst walking through the carport I stopped to examine a dense conglomeration of green ants which had accumulated on a section of the house wall. Standing there, sans clothing, a slight movement out the corner of my eye on top of 'stuff' piled up against the wall, at waist height, caused me to look down. There 10cms from me was 'Monty', the 2 metre, rather skinny scrub python who lives in a hole underneath the car port's concrete slab, & named by MrsTea. Made me jump I can tell you!
This one, a beautiful Green Tree Python who had just had a Melomys or frog sized feed, was a few metres from the house last night. Less startling than 'Monty' as we were out spotlighting.

..1. You would not have seen me for dust and 2. At the same time, you would have seen the big yellow stipe down my back through that dust and I tell you that for free.

A few friends have said much the same Doug! However these are python, non venomous & generally very laid back & docile. Mind you the scrub python made it clear that it wasn't comfortable with me stroking it's back.
If they attract a big number of ticks they can become sick. They can swell up and look like when they have eaten something but it can be caused by the ticks infecting them. Not too good for us either.
That one looks like he has blood and first look he did look like a press stud only in the photo.
What with you being au naturel and Monty, the first thing that popped into my head was "wakey wakey hands off snakey". :D I like snakes but I don't think I could handle an encounter pre-coffee.
