Darwin Service Centre

Will need to have our hybrid van serviced in Darwin the 3rd full week of June 2023. Would like to book it in now as I know how busy it gets up there mid-year.

Can anyone recommend a business that can do bearings and a wheel alignment ?

Cheers

G'Day John, Most manufacturers have Darwin agents but our experience of Dealers up there is they tend to be a bit exy and doubtful expertise.

Check on the web for local "truck" or "heavy vehicle" suspension specialists as they have the alignment equipment and knowledge.

Why not just get it done when you return from your trip. Bearings really don't need to be done like you would drop your oils on your vehicle, unless you have done a lot of water crossings.
Well, thaats what I would be doing, but not if it was my car service, that I WOULD do if away and it become due.

As far as  wheel alignment, is it really necessary, any uneven tyre wear!!!again,  only if needed
Cheers

Talking wheel alignment, mate just had his jayco off road 4wheel independent suspension alignment done at a Welshpool truck aligner. One hour, no parts used, one man with some laser beams and a spanner.
$440. That is a lot of money for one hours labour!

Maybe the $440 had included in it, the fact that the backyard $50 repairer has not invested in the many thousands of dollars to purchase, install truck alignment equipment and all in a workshop which may attract rates, taxes and interest charges.

We could add to that the ongoing costs of employing someone which might include payroll tax, holiday and sick pay, workers compensation general business insurance overheads for office stationary and other equipment as well as the wages for an office staff person.

But we have still forgotten one thing.

For the company with the heavy vehicle wheel alignment equipment to be there next year when we need him again he has to turn a profit from that initial charge.

It is a high cost but most tradies to come to your house with a ute and a box of basic hand and electrical tools will cost you $100 an hour and higher than that in larger centres and capital cities.
Many of us despise paying the money but really it is commensurate with the cost of living at todays monetary level.

To the OP Darwin will generally attract premium prices for most service items.
