Have a Leitner around $1400, but look alikes are less.
Folds up, no high bar to lift your leg up to get to both peddles, have the 12 or 15 amp battery for more range, use thick thornproof tubes with green slime. Carry on the back of our caravan or Campervan with a 3 bike rack, with the wheels in slots on a metal tube that's bolted to the towbar of the campervan or back bumper of the caravan.
I have a Leitner too. Made in Australia. It is folding and has front and rear suspension, $1550.
Recommended to me by a fellow vanner. I'm very happy with it.
Cheers,
Roy.
I think the folding type e-bikes are more practical for caravaning, less space and weight, particularly if you are carrying 2. I have an Earth Mi5 MTB. Cost $2,500 6 years ago but it is big, 27.5" wheels and heavy, weighs approx. 20 kgs. It has a 36v 250w rear drive motor and a 36v 13ah battery and has a range of 80 kms in ideal conditions. The newer fold up ones would most probably be cheaper and lighter but with less range. I don't take mine in the van, but carry a lighter, smaller pedal bike.
I bought a folding electric bike to take travelling, it's heavier than my full suspension MTB but does fold in half but the 20" wheels and short wheelbase do feel unstable after the normal bike especially on less than smooth surfaces.
Kebbin, as far as I can tell, Leitner Bikes are made in OZ. From their website;
"Leitner founder Ephraem Leitner grew up in South Tyrol, a German speaking area in the picturesque European Alps where he developed a passion for cycling since early childhood. Falling in love with Australia during a holiday, he now calls Australia his permanent home and founded Leitner in 2013."
Also from their website;
"Leitner is 100% Australian owned."
Do you know that they are not made in OZ or is that conjecture? You may be right but I can't find anything on their factory location.
Cheers,
Roy.
The 100% Australian Owned means nothing, Bonds are/were 100% Australian Owned and everything is Made in China. It's all a play on words to confuse the consumer.
Just ask the question "where are Leitner E-Bikes made" and you will have your answer.
Thanks Kebbin but I wasn't looking for answers, Mickle was.
Perhaps the info I gave him re made in Oz was wrong but the rest was correct.
I'm happy with the Leitner electric bike whether it's made in China or not.
Cheers,
Roy.
I have 2 SAME electric folding bikes about $1100 has head, tail and stop lights ,horn digital speedo, shows power levels etc. Seems to be well built and nothing appears crapy. 5 levels of power tops out at 25kph .

where are leitner bikes made from blog.thegerrings.com
1 Aug 2020 The bikes are made in China, flatpacked, and shipped to Leitner's depots in Australia. If you live near a depot you can arrange to pick you ..
