Caravan Insurance

Just found out that my local branch of NRMA is closing and that I will have to go online in the future to renew any of my six insurance policies.

Stuff them, 2 wonderful staff out of work with little hope of finding replacement employment!

So, I'm looking for suggestions for a good company to replace them. I have a 2000 Monarch Crusader 17' valued at around $13,000, excellent condition, as well as house, contents, and vehicle.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Stuff these big companies dumping on small townships that have been loyal to them for many many years. I took out my first policies in 1972!

Thanks

Happening everywhere in every industry.

A bit of a tangent issue.

At Coles yesterday the only 3 remaining cash self checkouts had broken down. They called up a person to take cash at a counter as that was an issue in itself.

As soon as I run out of cheques CBA not issuing new cheque books. My Credit Union stopped cheques last year.

I refuse to pay Paywave "tax" & have cut the aerial in my card.

Service these days means f... the customer!

Speak to an Insurance Broker and amalgamate Policies - you will end up saving a fortune and get better service. What's more you can speak to your Broker on the phone without having to wade through computer maze or wait an interminable time on phone, pressing numbers and listening to looped Musac.

Good luck getting a claim through Budget. They don't call themselves Budget for no reason.

Some car insurance companies indeed insure trailers. Unbraked trailers. If it's braked, its your fault you didn't tell them and you're in the poop getting a claim. Just a heads up on that front as my car insurer is exactly the above. I have CIL insurance on the van due to my camper being braked.

My camper is not braked, it's tare wgt is 270kg, but we changed it's tare due to a heavy mattress being in there, and a recond. rack, that made it heavier., so tare is now 400kg, all up wgt is 670kg fully loaded. The original mattress was included in the original tare wgt, that is what they did for early Imported NZ 80 series Campomatics

That's good to know deverall, might be why for the last 2 years they have stuck with my agreed value, ie they have no intention ever to pay out.

Whatever you get as a replacement will also be online, you won't find any insurance companies with actual offices these days.

Try QBE. They have a Lay Up policy where you only pay full premium for the months you are on the road. Brodie

I have CIL, and yes they are expensive, but when a tree walked into our van, the claim process was so simple it was insane.

I use a broker for everything else as he doesn't do vans.
