Fridge Switch -12v motion switch

Hello everyone,

We'on the road again - heading south (wife would like the move to be permanent after North Qld's yucky humidity of recent weeks - lol). Arrived at St George from Capella today, only to find the fridge had not been on from some time today.

I fitted one of those RV Electonics' Fridge Stitches just after we bought the van & have had no trouble since - before today, that is. There is no info on the device - is an electronic motion detector/switch. There is battery going in but nothing out. I noticed a green LED on at one stage but then it went out. What it means, I have no idea.

Has anyone fitted one of these to their van? Have you had any troubles? I'll try ringing the manufacturer tomorrow - there is one advantage of daylight savings Afterall - SA is 30 mins ahead of Qld.

Oops, I have just found the more comprehensive instructions!
The LED is supposed to light up when the switch is operated. It came on for a while tonight but not again. So my first call on the morning will be to the manufacturer.

I have installed it under the floor in a spot that should not get wet & the right way up. There is some dust in the case, perhaps that is a problem. Where the maker suggested that it should be placed is impossible - they should have checked with Jayco!

G'day mate, depending on where you are in SA I may be able to help you. I have one that is no longer needed since I changed the fridge. Yours if you want it. We are about 30k North of Adelaide.

Thanks for your offer Barney, but I won't be back "home" (SA) until some time next year. You're near Gawler, I assume? I think I have my address as "Paradise" - that's Townsville for 7 months of the year, from Jan - April, it's not so nice. We left Ceduna for Tnsv on 1987.

I spoke to RV Electonics this morning - my switch is their earlier version without a solid state switch - they can't get spares for mine. However when I cut the top off, I'll check it out.

G'day Warren, we are between Gawler and Elizabeth. Good luck with the switch, if you do need this one I can post it. It was original fit on my 2016 build Jurgens Lunagazer.

Our of interest, I know most of Australia's roads are built for Japanese or current Chinese invasion deterrent.

But we actually have a few roads which like a German Autobarn, one could drive at 417kph (Bugatti) & the roads do not have the irregularly of driving over an ant (over 200kph is enough for me).

What benchmarking have people done or dashboard warnings & manual bypass does the setup provide?

I have been using a FridgeSwitch for the last 10 years in my Sterling PopTop without a problem and it has been a blessing.
Mounted flat North/South behind fridge with easy access through external vent.
Also fitted an external Led to show when it's working.

A great idea, Wanderlust - the external LED.
The only spot for the switch behind our fridge is under the gas burner. Just after buying the van, I wanted to install a "push" fan to blow air up behind the fridge as I did with our Eagle (had one top & bottom) - but there's certainly no room.
The bypass worked ok today - I'll look at getting a new one at Warrnambool next week or taking up Barney's offer.
