I've recently read a very well researched book on things you can do to decrease your chances of developing cognitive decline and dementia. Although it was directed towards 50yrs olds I thought it wouldn't hurt to apply them to myself anyway. There were quite a few things you can do like the usual healthy diet, exercise, socialise and possible supplements; but the one that stuck out for me was so simple, was to WEAR MY HEARING AIDS.
The other thing that caught my attention was brain game training on your tablet, trains you to be good at brain game training and DOES NOT translate to limiting your cognitive decline, so unless you like these games you would be better off going for a brisk walk (don't like these games anyway).

That's disappointing news. Nevertheless, I will continue with my daily regimen of puzzles and brain games so that I can become aware of any decline in mental performance.

Learning a language certainly keeps the grey cells active, I'm doing Russian with Duolingo along with a family member, this has led to an interest in Russian history, another fascinating subject.
A young relative was diagnosed as needing hearing aids recently. Shocked by the pricing, but went ahaed after they explained the use it or lose it with regards to hearing, apparently you " forget speech etc " if you do not hear it.
