Hello all. I am seeking advice concerning the fixing up of my 2007 NPR 400 Alpine (31ft dual slide). I would prefer help from owners of the same model who have done the work themselves or in conjunction with trade pro's but you never know who is out there that may have a light bulb moment. I am often out of internet range so sporadic replies won't represent rudeness. I have already replaced front discs, slider collets, donaldson filter, various electrics coming off the 24V reducer, rerubber coated the roof and a few other cosmetics but I am stumped with a few. (More to follow though!)
Q1. How do you take the VDO Dayton speakers out of the outside unit near the entrance door without breaking them?
Q2. Why do the front tyes scrub middle inner tread? ( Already checked that the chassis doesn't need the tap to the cross member),
Q3. Do the crank batteries charge the house batteries whilst driving and
Q4. Can I run the solar whilst switched to mains voltage above the side door step when stopped?
More to follow,
Cheers and happy travelling from The Minnow.
Welcome to GN's Minnow.
I can't directly help you with your questions about your Winnebago Alpine, but as it's motive power is the Isuzu NPR 400, I would imagine some of the mechanics on here can assist you. The MH would have been made by Knott Industries at Emu Plains Sydney, it is possible they may have an electronic copy of the Manual
Usually when tyres scrub middle inner tread it is because tyres are over inflated.
Solar is usually connected whether MH is utilising mains power or not.

Thanks Possum 3. Glad to be aboard as there is nothing like experience to inform. I shall post to mechanics on the techies page. I was in contact with "Avida" in Emu Plains a while ago and I got some roof plans but that is about all. Maybe I wasn't specific enough. I check tyre pressures and adjust each morning, always 95psi steers. Mechanic in Maryborough said it was the tyre brand, one in Murgon said was the road camber on the Australian roads, one in Tamworth advised it was an Izusu build problem etc etc etc. I will probably just put them on the outer duals on the back. Thanks for the solar info.
Cheers. The Minnow.
If it has power steering....try running steer tyre at 90 psi...or even down to 85 ...keeping a check on how they are wearing properly. 95 psi was what we used to run in our old Inters and Dodges back in the 70s for wheat carting just so as we could steer the buggers....no power steering back then hey....but rough as guts when empty. Is just a thing to try....no hard and fast rule....but worth a go I reckon.
Cheers Keith

Thanks Keith for your info. I have pwr steering (and yes, I remember no pwr steering with all drum brakes full of water with 10 mickey bulls on the back!!)and have tried lowering as far as 75psi. Unfortunately no change. At below 60kmh it sounds like you have a rock in the tread. The scrubbing on the 2nd inner tread looks like a circle with dents every 10 inches along it's circumference. Tyres are Falken brand. No trouble with rear duals. Cheers.
Thanks Bob for your reply. I have seen the results you posted in other vehicles on the outer of the tyre. The tyres on The Minnow are normal truck tyres and I put new shocks on as well. Cheers.
Hello all. I have with your help solved the first four questions now how do I delete so people don't have to scroll through all the old stuff to new questions?...because I have quite a lot to go!!
Cheers all

Minnow, just put a new message at the bottom of your last post, we are all waiting to find out what it was....ha ha.
When looking at the heading of the section you posted in, General or Techies etc, in the last column on the right you will see the last post in that section, if you click on that name, it will take you to the very end, so no scrolling thru.
Thanks for that. Next Q.
What goes in the the currently empty reservoir that is just in front of the air filter and just behind the drivers side wheel??
Cheers.
Hi Bob. Answer was; change to Michelin or e balance wheels or squeeze frame of truck a fraction. I replaced bearings and discs . (they had cracks from gravel roads), e balanced wheels but won't do the frame (chassis) squeeze yet.
Basically am going to rely on the truck tyres mechanic and put them on the rear, see what happens then change brand.
Cheers B.
Q7. Does anyone know of a Winnebago Alpine (etc) repairer(Not mechanical, the winnebago build) who may know tricks to pull things apart inside for repairs??
Cheers.
Hi Ps.
Cassette C402C. Found the problem. Pump jammed and 3A fuse blown. Freed pump and 5A fuse in. Extremely difficult to get pump out. Definitely pull on water pipe, not the white electrical.
Cheers. The Minnow
