camec instantaneous hot water system E9 error

Hi

I have an E9 error come up on the camec instantaneaous hot water system WH-1.5 The manual informs me that this is to do with the water flow switch. Water flow is still as strong as it ever was so I am thinking a faulty switch.  Has anyone else had this happen and was it the flow switch at the back right hand side that was the culprit. If so can you suggest a good supplier to purchase a replacement part. cheers.

Pete, We get most of our stuff at www.caravansplus.com.au/plumbing-supplies/ they are also very knowledgeable when asked about trouble shooting.

Thanks. I have located their site but it tells me that this part is out of stock till July 7th, which presents a bit of a problem as we are due to leave here 28th June heading outback. I might ring them for some advice anyway as you say you found them helpful. thanks again for your reply. cheers.

There is a water flow sensor - not water pressure sensor, however there is an air pressure sensor - perhaps this is the culprit.

Thanks for that. I realised that my initial post was a bit misleading. I have now edited it. cheers.

Just getting back to this. My first post was incorrect. It is not a water flow pressure switch but an air flow pressure switch or as kgarnett pointed out an air pressure sensor.

Camec supplied me with the following trouble shooting information.

Re: CAMEC HOT WATER SERVICE (HWS) INSTANTANEOUS
Error Code E9 (failure of pressure switch)

E9 can indicate a higher than normal moisture content in the air pressure switch, which may prevent start-up of the HWS.
A solution to clear the E9 code can be to reduce the humidity level within the air pressure switch and/or air tubes.
For safety reasons, turn off the HWS at the control pad. Then turn off all gas bottles that supply the HWS.
Then,
1. Using the supplied key, unlock and carefully remove the external white or black access door. Note, the exhaust protrudes through this door.
2. If the caravan or motorhome is not enclosed within a dwelling or garage, wait one (1) minute to allow any gas fumes to disperse. If caravan or motorhome is enclosed in a dwelling or garage, open all doors/roller doors and wait 5 minutes to allow any fumes to disperse.
3. Never allow any naked flame or electric hair dryer or appliance to enter the confines of the HWS unit.
4. Now identify and locate the air pressure switch, twin separate almost clear silicone air hoses joining the air pressure switch and the bottom of the 50mm metal exhaust. The air pressure switch is located at the Left Rear side of the HWS, approximately 150mm from the top and appears as a light grey plastic disc approximately 60mm diameter with two (2) separate silicone hoses attached.
5. Remove top silicone hose from air pressure switch and gently pull the hose to the outside of the HWS. Now with a hair dryer set to low heat and low fan cycle allow some warm air to enter silicone tube. This air will expel via the exhaust. Do not pressurise the hose as gentle air flow is all that is necessary, for say one (1) minute. Then re-attach hose.
6. Now do the same as 5. Above, but with the bottom silicone hose from air pressure switch. When procedure is complete, re-attach hose. At this point both top and bottom hoses on air pressure should be attached
7. Remove hose from bottom of exhaust vent, choosing the one closest to you. There are two (2) separate hoses, one behind the other. Gently pull the hose to the outside of the HWS then use hairdryer set to low heat and low fan cycle again to get some airflow into the hose, for one minute. Then reattach the hose.
8. Now, remove hose from bottom of exhaust, the hose further away from you this time, and use hairdryer for 1 minute. Do not pressurise the hose, reattach the hose.
9. Check again to ensure two (2) hoses attached to air pressure switch and other ends attached to exhaust vent. Refit the external access door.
10. Turn gas bottle(s) back on
11. Turn control pad back on and restart

If unit fails to start up, its possible that the air pressure switch is faulty. This item in not repairable and must be replaced.
Camec Item No. 044754 Air pressure switch
