Conundrum - dirt under rugs.

Why is it that there is so much dust & dirt under rugs. Particles infinitely larger than that could work their way through the tight weaving. These are Persian rugs, not rubbish from Australia retailers, some of them silk rugs.

I vacuum regularly with a Nilfisk commercial vacuum V600, brilliant bit of kit, also with medical grade dust bag, leaving the domestic vacuums for dead.

A few times a year I bash the rugs out, harder than Wifey (from a technical benchmark) over the fence.

Nevertheless the Persian rugs have dirt under them larger than seams physically possible by a magnitude of about 10 or possibly a 100.

I simply don't get it. An observation of about 3 decades.

Maybe I have got it all wrong & Wifey should do the cleaning.

I was living in a caravan on a work job at one stage and I found that dirt "tracks in" on your boots and if you let it build up a bit it then it starts to "track out" on your boots. Just train yourself to live with and be happy with a certain amount of "build up" on the floor then you do not have to worry about sweeping and cleaning the floor - it is self maintaining!       Maybe you do not need rugs...!
