wikicamps again

Is anybody else experiencing issues with wikicamps.

Since this latest update it takes quite a long time to load even though I have downloaded the relevant maps to my phone.

Also in use scrolling the map or changing its scale the app take so long to respond that it is almost unusable unless you have the patience to wait it out.

Looking for alternatives I tried camps Australia but found their site listings to be far inferior to wikicamps.

Does anyone have any other alternatives they would recomend.

Alan

Agree, Very Slow, so much now that I rarely use it. Have also noticed a large decrease in the threads/comments.

I would think that Wiki Management would be pulling out all stops to fix the problem, to limit damage to their investment.

I don't understand how revenue for owners is raised at all.

Why do they bother to run the once great site. sure can't be for love!!!

A bit like this forum some years ago - cancelled for asking the question!!

I did find that wikicamps was bought by Gday parks group, so maybe they don't want it to work.

Definitely slower, and keeps telling me it is 'not responding... do I want to wait, close it ' etc. I have only used WA for the past 7 years, and now find the reviews for VIC & NSW come up as 2016 - then quickly refresh to the latest ones. Offline maps updating I guess and interesting seeing the price changes!

Sadly I must agree. I have emailed them several times and they do return an answer but they ask to be patient while it loads.,This is unacceptable for travellers. I have gone over to Camps Aust $10 pa.

Yes it is SLOW.

But you will get the best info & reviews & comments & photos on this App.

As a free camper I would not consider any other camping app!

And yes, I hope the App gets quicker to navigate.

Might just be me but today the speed of my Wiki Camps was acceptable, although still not "fast". Cheers

I emailed wikicamps telling them it was very slow and got an automated response to my 'it's slow and un responsive' question that said 'we are aware of this and we are working on it'

We'll see

I am also noticing an improved response with wikicamps, but it is still slow.

Thank you to those the suggested ExplorOZ but it is to expensive for my taste.

I will continue as before with a very slow wikicamps app.

Camps Aust.

Thanks, will have a look later.

I wasn't overly impressed with ExploreOZ.

Also if Wikicamps have been taken over by GDay parks, will they eventually skewer travelers to their parks?

A friend wants me to join GDay parks but I found their website convoluted and confusing too.

They just need to be quick, informative and simple.

I am not big on these booking agency types, with friends and clients in the motel business and one in an air B&B they are virtually held to ransom by these, in some cases, large corporate overseas owned booking "clubs" that in effect do little other than letch off the little guys providing the assets and doing all the work.

Their is anew update coming next week to fix the offline data, notice is on the facebook page, but I saw it over at the caravanners forum. They havent put the notice up at the WC forum, I am pretty sure   they will be shutting down the forum, their are some quite upset people over there, a ,lot of foul swearing and no moderation from admin, that is enough to say, that the forum will be gone very soon.

New update for Wikicamps is now out, mine was working previously but was fairly slow after the previous update, with the latest update it is back to normal. Other people all seem to also be reporting it has fixed any problems they had.

Have just done the new update and everything's seems to be back to as was before the previous disaster.

Seems to me lately that more and more companies do quality control via customer dissatisfaction rather than inhouse checking.

Just a quick look at recall notices bears his out.

Mine says the app is not responding. Says I should visit the app store for the new version. I was in slow/stop mode before.

Going back some time ago (12 mths?) a mod to a site in the way of favorite, etc would be
immediately reflected on all other devices signed in to the account.

I have an I phone and Ipad and wife has iPhone for use under different circumstances.

I find that now I have to go into a site on each device and make the change.

'Wonder why they changed this handy feature?

Yes, the Site Content sync update is very slow...rather painful actually compared to the past version.

Finally upgraded the Favorite change to a site.

Don't mind so long as it happens.

Took about 4-5 hours.

Can't help wondering what all the drama was about with the n"upgrades" that
blew the site up. I'm yet to notice any difference, and the suggestions that
I had made to the original owner about operation and some matters with the site
and had been agreed that were going to happen are non - existant.

Pity. because as it is theres lots of silly things, mis-wording that is misleading
and simple improvements that would help overall operation and convenience.

It is unfortunate for some obviously.

I reloaded again, and now find it operating pretty much as it was. A little slower to load sites with lots of reviews or photos, but otherwise ok.

I now have Camps Australia Wide as an adjunct.

Last week I had that same problem, but only with some sites within 300km of Perth.
However, it all has come right now. Back to "normal"  speed too, but does freeze on occasions.Cheers

If it was a fact that Gday Parks purchased the Wikicamps then it is most likely that the Gday Parks certainly would not want Wiki Camp to work, as most of the sites are non Caravan Parks. We always use Wikicamp as we love to Bush or free camp. We do stay at sites like Bigriggin Qld where the fees may be $7 to $10 p.p. per night etc.

I hope that Wikicamp is always update and stays around for a long time.

All I can say is that it appears to be working fine for me now.

Here is a video screenshot of me searching for a particular camp spot offline  a few minutes ago. The video is in real time.

It is not working fine cuppa, try and change something on your profile, then try your password, it wont accept it, then when you try and change your password, it wont accept the change, then you try and send an email to admin, it times out. I have stopped using it, most probably never again, it's a paper weight to me complete utter rubbish.
